But when they tried to make an anime it was revealed that the publisher only PRETENDED they had gotten the legal permission. That the publisher posted fake claims that they had gotten permission from Capcom, SNK, etc.

The anime pre-production revealed that the manga was effectively breaking the law, and it is not the author's fault.

Actually they got permission from no one. Nintendo, Capcom, Sega, SNK, etc were all sent letters and none replied back, so they went forward with publishing the series. The partnership with Capcom came after the series began. And the anime studio interested in adapting it did a double check and the shit hit the fan. Sega considered suing for damages, but backed off after they realized nothing being used for harmful to them. SNK sued because they got all assblasted for being called on all the shit that happens to women in their fighters. Then chinks bought SNK and dropped the suit.
