She's been a proud, indifferent and playful cat for two dozen episodes, and ALL OF A SUDDEN she's blushing like mad every two minutes. This looked like a /u/ fanfic more than an episode.

KiraKira is weird because some of the concepts and characters and scenes are pretty psychological and a bit edgy for Precure but the show is still one of the most childish Precure series to date so it feels bipolar as fuck. I just watched the episode and was a little disappointed with the fight. They couldn't wrangle it so that Yukari managed to get her device back, transform, and fight to save Akira herself? It could be read as a statement that at least in this instance she has the self-determination to make a clear expression of her feelings... Instead it took the others turning up and Ciel throwing it to her, then Ciel hogs the group transformation for some reason, and then the one thing that's actually relevant to the fight as part of the story is that fucking retarded pose Yukari and Akira do together, and then Ciel comes in with the finisher.

I always felt this need for the entire group to be involved in the end (especially when there's six of them) or for a particular character to do the finisher was stupidly limiting and rigid, but here it's to such an extent that it interferes with what the story's trying to do.

I'm getting flashbacks to that particularly enraging episode of Vividred Operation that's entirely focused on the relationship between yellow and green (I don't remember any of their names) with them having an argument, and when they make up and fight the enemy, red comes in out of nowhere because the mechanic of the show is that one of them HAS to gattai with red, when it would've been much better for the story if yellow and green had gattai'd.
