He's shown to have good morals and the qualities of a good hero, but he also follows orders without question and doesn't have any ambition of his own. Mahmut has Suleyman's qualities but a completely different approach to affecting the world. Their drastically different relationships with Zaganos may be important as well, since with the recent chapters it seems like Mahmut vs Zaganos is going to be a thing. But most importantly, Zaganos could have never filled Suleyman's job because Suleyman is shown traveling all across the continent, alone, which is unthinkable for someone in Zaganos's position.

The main char also needs to keep a low profile, so of course he dresses in bright colored expensive clothing wherever he goes. And he talks loudly even of secret matters when windows are open.

As for lifting the tent cloth of that size with the number of eagles shown, that is not possible. Each eagle is not like an engine with continual power output. The lift is a bunch of flapping wings. Because eagle wings are longer and heaviier than those of a sparrow or crow, they flap slower. The lift pulse is slower and that factors into greater problems lifting the tent. The amount of lift is also at an angle because the tent is not free floating like a goat but is fixed to the ground which means the amount of weight lifted is not all that great.
