I've loved almost every character, the theorising is wild, all the Stands are pretty fun. All the minor fights being interlinked with Aishou/Yotsuyu doing things was cool. Kirafumi are interesting as a background to Gappy. And then you got a family that feels like a family with just that little bit of bizarre flavour that makes Jojo taste sweet.

Everyone has different reasons, but the new translations in English made him worse for me. At least in the French versions he's a little more flowery. My main gripe is that he's just too good. Seeing Narancia get hurt and then just figuring out stands. Managing to somehow mind read Cioccolata being a doctor while listening his body parts and random bits of fungai that wouldn't be cool in pop culture until a decade? (How does a street urchin know them?)
He steals the limelight of certain fights and removes tension immeditily. Talking Head and The Clash are an example where he did not need to interfere or just figure shit out straight away. The bathroom scene is funny with the gang working to together to understand him.
I don't hate him, nor find him boring. Just sort of frustrating and a tension killer. The time he should have fucked up (Either with Narancia or Mista during Green Day) was wiped away with the healing and magic tree bullshit.

Pucci. He's the only villain in the series you doesn't just sit in the shadows the whole time. If he wants to do something, he does it himself. On top of that, his goal is the eradication of the Joestars. In every other part, the Joestars just get in the villain's way and they have to kill them to get to their objective, but killing them IS Pucci's objective. Because of that, whenever he appears, it's not like Valentine appearing at the end of Civil War to sneak away with the corpse part while nobody was looking; he's there to kill the main characters and it's very possible that somebody could die.

Maybe he didn't have the most nuance or intricate background, but he was undoubtedly the most well implemented.

Well when talking about Giorno you also have to consider themes of the part and Araki's state of mind while writing it. Giorno was meant to be perfect. It heavily goes into his backstory. He was a broken person, the son of Dio, yet be was able to overcome this by working with fate. His character in general was meant to be a good Dio. Also there are obvious Jesus allegories
