Lots of konosuba reference this episode
ESL here. Is "royal capital" expression here a Japanism? The only places I find it in are tranlations of Japanese games and books, googling it nets FF-related pages (and buisnesses using the phrase as a name) and typing it in wiki search redirects to "List of capitals in Malaysia".
People need medical help if they enjoy this, What's the point in just giving the MC everything already, We can't expect nothing because the MC will solve it.
Because Mahouka is an enjoyable show with multiple characters and enjoyable action scenes, 8/10 doesn't just mean I only liked Onii-sama.
Yes he might be god level as well but that doesn't mean I can't hate Smartphone's MC. You can like one tsundere and hate another tsundere.
Smartphones MC has been god level since the first episode and is only getting stronger for god knows what reason.
>I can enjoy other shows
>But others aren't allowed to enjoy other shows
>Because Mahouka is an enjoyable show with multiple characters and enjoyable action scenes
Smartphone is an enjoyable show with multiple characters and enjoyable atmosphere
Alright, point taken mahouka cast is decent enough, and its not like you have any bias against isekai like half ot the threads so the argument isn't clouded by emotion.
but you must understand that other people can enjoy smartphone the same way you enjoyed mahouka, there's no need to "get help"
You're missing the point. You find mahouka to be good taste and smartphone to be bad taste, this is subjective. If you can say people need to be faggots to enjoy something it goes the same way the other way around.
>Your taste is shit, therefore your opinion is invalid
>I am aware of this but is there any inherent harm in admitting to be from a different world?
I guess he doesn't want to become a literal messiah, he just wants to fuck around and help around. All the people from the world would flock to an otherworlder.
Meh I guess, but how bad would it really be? I mean he possesses an affinity for every element which is said to be at least extremely rare, so wouldn't people start flocking around him naturally anyway?
Would a demon lord heal people?
>I mean he possesses an affinity for every element which is said to be at least extremely rare, so wouldn't people start flocking around him naturally anyway?
Didn't he show that only to his party members? Other people only know that he can use multiple types of null magic, which I admit already raises some flags.
>she does, in this arc even
>then he hires her and the sister to work in his country
Nice, I just assumed that she won't return since all the pictures of MC's harem looked like only human girls got a piece of him.
>Fuck off crossboarder and ESL scum
This website literally belongs to ESL scum.
>Didn't he show that only to his party members?
For the time being yes, but he will eventually end up using every kind of magic at least once in the public view. It might not be the same people witnessing every unique magic usage, but people talk and sooner or later people will realise.
>Other people only know that he can use multiple types of null magic, which I admit already raises some flags.
True, good point.
there's no drama here you dips, they literally describe the series as
"He begins to travel from country to country, solving political disputes, minor quests, and nonchalantly enjoying himself with his newfound allies."
My point being that any anime only shouldn't expect hitogami starting shit here, its all good fun for MC and co, and you know some fags can't take it, they WANT drama and suffering
The MC could be replaced with inanimate object and narartive wouldn't suffer at all. Let me try it.
>a god throws a dragon dildo down to earth
>two girls pick it
>they encnounter another girl getting harassed by thugs and beat them with the dragon dildo
>their next encnounted is an entourage of a duke's daughter attacked by a magician.
>magician is defeated after slipping on the dragon dido, then they use the dragon dildo to scoop an arrow from wounded butler's chest
>upon arriving to duke's place they find out his wife can't open her eyes
>they shove dragon dildo up her ass so hard she opens her eyes from it
Read again, it increases his magic resistance to elements he has an affinity to (which are all of them) while making him weaker to elements he doesn't have an affinity to (so none). You misunderstood the kind of OP it is.
You need to marathon some Teekyuu.
This pose makes me diamonds.
Can someone tell me if I should watch this episode or not. Last episode was atrocious dick sucking as MC ran around playing Jesus.
I enjoyed the first episode so Id like to have hope for the show, but if its gonna be like last episode from now on its worthless.
>no-one remembers de gozaru
I missed hearing it so much.
It's alright if you're a homosexual anon, I still love you.
She missed her chance to be the first and legal wife because the main heroine is coming.
Can't fool me mal fuckwad, you kind always bangs the same notes when shitting on this when anyone with half a bloody brain knows to expect nothing outta a anime with isekai in the title
>Creature absorbs magic
>Has regenerative abilities
>Has giant, glowing red core
>MC makes brilliant strategy of taking out the core
>Show treats this idea as genuinely intelligent complete with "aha!" moment from MC
>MC uses magic to steal it's core so it can be destroyed
>For literally no reason, this time it does not absorb magic
This is a new level of "MC uses common sense and everyone treats it as genius, revolutionary strategy" that we see in these types of shows. This is "MC thinks up a retarded plan that shouldn't work in the first place and it works anyway and everyone treats it as genius, revolutionary strategy"
Defending a show with "you're not supposed to take it seriously" is actually pretty much saying it has no redeemable qualities and is meant for braindead retards.
It also fails when the show plays everything deathly straight.
Kudos for not typing like a mentally challenged ESL like half the redditors and MALfags in this thread though.
Anon this shit is exactly what Leddit likes.
Also these threads are going to just be mindlessly circlejerks from now on so I probably wont even read them, to be honest. The first few were enjoyable mainly from everyone pointing out how ridiculously retarded everything was, but now that they all dropped the show these threads will crater into Madoka-general-tier circlewanks.
See you next week.
STOP LIKING WHAT I DON'T LIKE
>Is "royal capital" expression here a Japanism?
Royal capital just means that the King or whatever resides there. Although sometimes this isn't the case, for example Austria-Hungary had an Imperial and Royal capital.
I don't know the source material for this but I assume they just meant to say that this is the capital of the kingdom.
Why didn't he let her play against her father?
>Why didn't he let her play against her father?
While I was asking myself the same, I quickly realized that giving women what they think they want usually doesn't lead to them wanting your D.
At least their entire personality isn't just about hanging off his dick
yet.They're just acting like friends.
Friends let you die first, really moving if you ask me.
They also gave him no roll cake.
>a princess will never acknowledge your dick
People whose reference repertoire is very limited usually make that mistake, they think every Mecha is a Code Geass reference or every VMMO is SAO reference. They probably can't imagine the long history of JRPGs all these isekai are referencing. Some anon didn't know what sakuga is and actually thought whenever they do "that thing", it was a Nichijou reference.
Sometimes it feels like there's something to regret even if you got paid well.
How different is the light novel from the web novel? How is J-Novels translation?
With all the referenced on this shit i kinda would like to see a crossover where the smartphone guy and his harem get outsmarted by the konosuba guys also the koniosuba mc steals the phone and decides to sell it
Let me guess, the purple-haired girls are sisters and short-haired one is shy and timid, but also very kind and lady-like. Long-hair one is violent tomboy, maybe even tsundere.
How correct am I?
What is this thing?
>t at least it's comfy
>Last episode was atrocious dick sucking as MC ran around playing Jesus.
>I enjoyed the first episode
At what point exactly did all of this massive dick sucking cross the line? The second episode is pretty much the same as the first, the third and probably every other episode to come.
Because as bad as it is it fills that void in your heart that was created the day you realized you will never live in that kind of world
Good choice, i guess i would be in the same boat if i didn't have a wife already something about isekai always tells me to go for the girl with the noble or royal family it's something that stuck with me since the first pther world story i ever read
guess what mc just got a fucking coat that reduces damage from all magic and he also learned a spell that lets him rearrange matter
The only thing she has going for her is black hair and the fact she has two swords. Her body is uninteresting.
This gentleman knows. And to top it off she had the best slime pose out of the three.
It's the desire for an eventful life filled with fateful encounters.
A pipe dream.
De gozaru a de best
Umbrella girl is best
I LOVE YOU JESUS CHRIIIIIIST
You see cute exaggerations like this and then in the next few minutes you see blood gushing out like it's an edge show or something. I need to take note of whoever came up with this episode.
I want to bully this garystu MC
This "oh no" was about as weak as things get. Dirty slut.
So MC can multicast now.
He's basically a walking god at this point. When will he get nerfed
in 5 or 6 years there will be people posting here who watched this as their first isekai and because of that they inevitably ended up loving it also the will have one of the girls as their legit waifu
I want this series, but MC as a evil character who teleports peoples hearts out of their body. Oh wait that's called Overlord.
De gozaru moving at extremely high speeds
what did they mean by this
smartphone confirmed for bros
best girl de gozaru
HHHNNNGGG she's so cute. Current best girl is a tie between Elze and Sue. I can't decide yet.
The 600+ year old loli gothic fairy is likely to take the bestest girl spot though. I hear she's really awesome.
Please feed Yae=SAN, the poor SAMURAI girl. You will acquire her as WAIFU. DE GOZARU ARIGATOU. YEEART.
Shut the fuck up and post more smartphone jesus
Pretty sure they mentioned the name of the continent/country/city in the first episode but for simplicity it's likely abbreviated. For example if the name of the kingdom was fuckboy王国 in the city of black都, then rather than saying both or either to describe the city you're in, you can just use 王都 and people automatically know that you mean the city of black within the kingdom of fuckboy. It's easier and flows more smoothly than stating the full names which most viewers won't remember multiple times.
Now that I think maybe this show really is objectively comfy, there's nothing to get worried about because you know for sure that the MC will solve every problem. So it's just a relaxing journey with a bunch of cute girls.
Heterochomia loli is cuter
Small, sure. But not flat.
Unironically watching this. In a way this is the comfiest show of the season. Everyone who expects this to be some kind of grand sprawling edge fest like Re:Zero or half of the time boring and half of the time funny like Konosuba is out of their minds. Isekai smartphone is therapeutic in that it only presents joy and companionship in its characters no matter how ridiculous or mind numbing it may be. Every and all problems are solved within the scene they are introduced in and all the characters simply wish to be friends with each other. You might think otherwise, but Isekai smartphone is quickly becoming my seasonal favorite.
This show should pull the korean grinder MMO trope where they make you a god when you first create the character & then after some big battle, you lose & get sent back to level 1 and lose all your abilities.
One of the girls could just get axed in half, and the MC gets BTFO'd off a cliff. When he wakes up he finds the half-dead near-corpse of the samurai girl who explains what happened before dying.
The kingdom where he saved the queen's sight is on fire & from a distance we watch the king and his men being decapitated one by one in front of his screaming daughter, who is also then dispatched of.
The only thing the MC has left at this point is the cellphone god gave him, no magic, no superhuman strength; nothing.
Now the only way he can defeat evil that caused all this shit to happen is to rely on his smartphone & whatever information he can use from his old world, earth.
It definitely is a combination of all those elements, but what I find interesting about it is that unlike other isekai adaptations, the presentation is incredibly 'pure.' Popular isekai or magic highschool shows love to invoke the whole Freud thing about lust and violence through their forced pg 13 sexual encounters and pseudo life or death situations, but Isekai smartphone has the bare minimum of each even to the point of inserting them with a child-like innocence to it.
Do Korean web/light novels have a character creation trope? I've always wanted other isekai to have this.
That's the best part of an rpg, fucking min-maxing your character upon creation. Can't believe this isn't adopted by Japan.
>not bedding the tavern wench
Gotta keep the economy moving, you know. Also I don't think Death March is as 'pure' as this. DM is too technical and still has some dark feel in it.
Both are pretty comfy, but not as comfy as this. I might be wrong about Wiseman though, because it's been a year since I last read it, and I remember some action in it.
That's black comedy you baka. Definitely not pure at all.
Wait so >>160300123
is the max you can allocate to any one stat 5, or did he just limit himself to 5?
Anyway the writing seems ok, maybe I'll keep reading, though the MC seems somewhat transexual to begin with.
>the monster can absorb elemental magic, but not null magic
>apport works in a different way than damaging magic spells, so the monster can't absorb it
It doesn't take much to figure out why the plan worked, but I guess it's easier to focus only on the simplest thing and blame the show for being inconsistent with what you understood.
This show actually has a pretty high barrier of entry, given how it requires you to be able to have fun with anime without caring much about how stupid its plot can get. That's why you see so many people complaining.
I don't think anyone who's new to anime would start out by watching this show in particular.
I don't know why I keep watching this.
The main appeal of the show, going by its title, is "what if you had a working smartphone in an isekai?", but the MC barely uses it outside of convenience function and the author basically grant him god tier plot armor by giving him every power that can possibly exist, meaning he will never be in a difficult spot, meaning it's extremely boring as the author is the only limiting factor in how the story progress, and not the character himself.
Why do I watch it? Is it the girls? Is it the dumb setting and naive atmosphere looking like it was made to target middle schoolers?
So when do the girls start showing romantic intersest?
I'm surprised that we are 3 episodes in and none of them is even trying to suck his dick after all the shit he is done
I mean, should anyone be watching this? There's a lot of content out there and this feels pretty bottom of the barrel. People are free to like what they like, but surely there's a superior alternative? I'm watching to be a contrarian shite and to make posts like this. I honestly believe the show has 0 redeeming qualities.
Also, either this show isn't comfey or I don't know what the fuck that word means. When I think comfey, I think of scenes like the culture fest victory lap in Azumanga Daioh. It's a two minute bit where nothing happens, but it works because of simple, yet effective imagery, good sound design, and a cast of likable characters set in a relatable situation. Even if you've never been in their exact position, you can empathize with having a great day and not wanting it to end because it's a basic human experience. But Smartphone focuses on alien experiences with a cast of unrelatable robots. And by ignoring the strengths of a traditional conflict driven narrative, the story makes for a poor action/adventure story. They've taken the fantasy and slice of life genres and mashed them together only to make use of the aspects least suited for each other. So instead of comfey being about evoking emotion from the audience, feelings of empathy, a sense of nostalgia, etc., comfey seems like it's a lack of conflict. And that's terrible. Because conflict is the heart of story telling.
Conflict doesn't have to mean violence and it doesn't have to be grandiose. Conflict can be little things, like character foils. Jesus christ, every character in this story just smiles and agrees with each other. No wonder they all feel like bland, soulless dolls. I just want them to talk to each other, not talk at each other about mechanics, world building and other such uninteresting bullshit. How is it that there are four characters, two of which are sisters, and we have to yet to establish a dynamic between any of them?
If people think this is good, what is bad?
Smartphone reference in my Evangelion? Trigger confirmed for bros.
I don't understand the appeal. It's fascinating that that's enough for people. I feel like I can't describe the selling points of the anime without insulting the fanbase and that sounds crazy to me.
If I can make an admission, the episodes do feel like they're getting better. There's finally a hint of a plot. But these improvements are marginal. The core elements are still dramatically, critically flawed.
Are you genuinely autistic? Even if you think the show is dogshit it doesn't take a genius to see the appeal in an unabashed power fantasy romp through a fantasy world collecting cute girls along the way. It's pure wish fulfillment.
I've spent the hour since you posted this trying to sort out an argument about the roles of conflict and storytelling in entertainment, but I've ditched all that because it's way more than anyone really this about watching something like this.
It exhibits people being happy and comfortable around each other. That makes me feel happy and comfortable. It's as simple as that. It doesn't matter if they're robots, they're still relaxed and thus so am I.
No, the show is not complex by any means. That's what's nice about it. Self-insertion and wish-fulfilment, as others have described it, is exactly on the dot.
>but I've ditched all that because it's way more than anyone really this about watching something like this
> I'm watching to be a contrarian shite and to make posts like this. I honestly believe the show has 0 redeeming qualities.
I'll never stop believing people who do things like this are the most retarded kind of anime watchers.
I mean, if I try a show and get to the point the only reason to watch it would be to make posts shitting on it, I would think it's a waste of my time and drop it to watch something else from my backlog.
But wasting horus of my only life on this Earth just so I can shit on a show on an anonymous imageboard? When the threads will inevitably die and in a couple of years nobody will remember or care about said posts? I fail to see the purpose of that.
>but I've ditched all that because it's way more than anyone really this about watching something like this
Because one aho isn't enough
What? I was thinking analytically when it likely just amounts to us having different tastes.
The other guy wants something more involved. I want something I can enjoy more passively, like a morning radio show or a Saturday morning cartoon. The latter was also used earlier in the thread to describe the show.
Do you not share that kind of feeling?
Speaking about her, I'm surprised with how nobody said how much they want to fuck those eyebrows yet. Anons are usually pretty good at this.
This show is about as bog-standard and generic as they get.
>Self-insert MC with basically no personality traits
>OP as fuck
>Literally everything goes right for him, on the first try
>Bitches falling on him for basically no reason
>Generic fantasy world with no defining traits
It's still mildly fun to watch though. Some people need to learn to fucking lower your standards, and learn to enjoy things.
Even the most terrible series usually have something which can make it fun to watch.
Fucking MAL fags trying to take anime seriously.
I love this show.
I actually enjoy this show for once. It's quite relaxing; probably because of the ridiculously overpowered MC.
What I like though is that MC isn't a smartass/edgelord, otherwise the show would probably be shit.
Holy shit, I thought she was done for. Had a hearty laugh when she just started doing flips and shit not five seconds after. I love this show.
