anons in general don't know what bad Japanese voice acting would be, myself included. They don't speak Japanese, so they can't tell. It'd be like asking them to point out a spelling error in a Japanese essay.

dubs are all shit

english-speaking countries have a much different culture so the scenarios, body language, etc. clash heavily with english. In general animes have too much emotional and dynamic range and the shift is too sudden for an english speaker so it just sounds corny.

Personally, I feel the dub for Space Dandy is far better. I watched some six episodes of Space Dandy subbed and do you know what I got out of it? Dandy did not fit his character very well. Dandy is supposed to be, well dandy. He's supposed to have that harsh but kind attitude to him. He's supposed to be an all around cool guy. It's not that that wasn't present in the Japanese version, it was just heavily watered down, from the subtitles to the intonations of Dandy's voice. Then, change to the English version and absolutely everything changes. From the announcer announcing the show in a way Space Dandy deserves, to Dandy's vastly different voice and word choice, the atmosphere, that weasel guy sounding like a total bitch instead of simply sounding generic (He is a bitch, damn it, he should sound like one) and QT sounding more in character, the English dub adds a more understandable depth to the language and actions of the characters in Space Dandy.

When you watch Baccano, where does it take place? America. It takes place on an American train in America.

Bad Japanese voice actors were never voice actors by training. A few of them would be drama or movie actors, but most of the bad ones were idols or former AKB48 members.

I can tell bad voice acting in Japanese easily. It most often happens with bad old man voices. As in, voice actors doing the forced old geezer accent, instead of just talking normally.

More or less, it also depends on the voice director a bit too. On occasions you may get a dub that turns a steaming pile into something more watchable outside of /a/ threads like Danganronpa 3.

From my experience, most game dubs tend to be better than most anime dubs, probably due to not having lip flaps to worry about 90% of the time. Even rush job dubs like Guilty Gear Xrd managed to squeeze out a few good performances.
