Based on what's mentioned, I think there's probably one of those crystal strands (that, as far as I can tell, operate like human muscle by contracting) on the inside of the weapon yanking the bowstring back between each shot. It's in essence sticking an arm inside your weapon to preform the reload action for you, and because it's a super strong artificial arm it can do this quickly, even with a high draw-strength bow.

This is the problem with the anime--it skips everything from the beginning. The anime briefly mentioned that when the turtle's mana ran out its body couldn't support itself anymore. That's because there's a spell called physical boost which basically reinforces the body and makes movements in general stronger. Pumping mana through that spell is how the big creatures and the mechs move. It's almost impossible for people to use because it takes a lot of mana and requires very precise control.

So naturally the programming wizard MC rewrote it to be more mana-efficient and automated. He's been training with it since he was a toddler and as a result of constantly spending mana on it his mana pool has grown at a ridiculous rate.

Yes. Other than the nation this part of the story takes place in though, there are only 2 other nations the story bothers with: The nation that the spies come from and one of the nations that nation attacks later on.

The nation that steals the tech compensates for the flaws of the Telestarle in a different manner from its home country, leading to a distinct strand type model from the one the home country eventually invents. The nation being attacked is helped out by Eru on orders of the King due to blood relation to one of the royal members. Other than leaking out their version of strand type mecha to help them fight off the invading nation, Eru helps them invent a highly specialized mecha that is good for defense and only for such , but is a lot easier to retrofit onto existing mecha models and can stall until they can build the strand type mecha.

That's only so Eru gets indulge in his autism without anyone stopping him though. The scene where his autism almost gets him killed and everyone else has to confine him was hilarious.
