This show was cute and fun. Canon Yuki is a shitty retard Reiclone. Yuki-chan is cute and likable.

It had fun moments, but it's just a mediocre slice of life borrowing too much from the main series to not make you kill yourself. Throwing out literal same lines here and there with plenty of references to the main series makes it even more soulless. Yuki and Kyon changed way too much. A meeker Yuki like from Disappearance might have been better despite it being explained how current Yuki wasn't this much of a blob at first. Kyon on the other hand doesn't work at all in this setting and borrows too much from the status quo MC making him into a subpar character.

Hey guess what?

This iteration of Yuki is the best iteration. Why? Because the character was allowed to grow and take initiative. Additionally the rest of the supporting cast were granted enough screentime to almost fool the audience into thinking they were actual characters with their own motivation. In the original animu the supporting characters were permitted only enough screentime to serve a direct purpose to the plot, nothing more. Ask yourselves this; if Haruhi season 3 is really a thing do you think any personal growth of any characters would be permitted aside from possibly haruhi or kyon? Disappearance of Yuki is obviously fan-service in its origins and in most of its execution, but a more fallible and relate-able cast of characters were created from the original molds.
