It's not bad. It did a great job at building up the universe after 0079, the character drama is subtle although frustrating and the fights that weren't complete filler were amazing for the most part. It was also ahead of its time visually, with decent animation and lack of stock footage especially compared to its sequel, and Kamille evolved into an amazing character.
Of course it's far from being a perfect anime, since despite the fact that the show explores its characters thoroughly, you still have to deal with some erratic characterizations such as Katz's. But it's still one of the best Gundam series, and the ending is one of the highlights of the mecha genre.

The first 2X episodes are the worst part, then the Ireland arc is a 10/10, then it shits itself near the end again.
