I think it's to give a bigger emphazise on the characters. He loves these arts with just a character in a cool position, it gives a very nice contrast between the blank background and the very detailled characters.

Also for fights, it's for visibility, lots of artists do that. It makes your fight much more simple to understand for the reader viewpoint.

also I suspect him of not being able to draw beautiful background so I think he gave up in the end...

If you like very detailled background settings, you should try Nihei's manga. Some of his backgrounds are masterpiece tier.

It forces you to focus on the characters. It also makes every action clear, never getting lost in the background. You also remember a lot of page spreads because of the lack of background, emphasizing the imagery. I mean I remember more amazing panels and page spreads in Bleach than say Naruto or One Piece or actually most of shounen shit now that I think about it.

How would it "put thing together" exactly? The emphasis here is the character and his power, not what he is trying to protect or what he represents. As other anons said background often distracts you, at least in black and white.

For artist the general rule is to take away everything that is unnecessary for a particular piece so kubo did just that. And other manga artists do it to, for example even though one piece has some great backgrounds the moments where the emphasis is the character there are usually non like pick related, unless background is a part of the set piece. And in Bleach everything is pretty much a "cool character moment". It was often too much and didn't work out at the end but it was what kubo was going for. Imho even the infamous the heart works, it's just frustrating when it's a part of your 17 pages a week ration.

Not sure if thats 1 or 2 since its a weird two part thing. Not sure if part 2 finished yet (i think it was hitting a climax a while back?), but its a pretty decent series.
Its a modern survival game type of series where it revolves around a social media platform.

Users get sucked in (not all users?), die if they dont have any followers (and if they die, their followers die), are forced to play games to survive.

It had a pretty interesting twist if i remember right. A bit odd, but its worth your time if youre into thw survival do or die game genre.

A damn good series for a mangaka with only one series under their belt. There have been more "intense" scenes, but it was the first horror (its kinda shounen horror) manga to give me a good chill. And horror manga is my jam.
This scene was intense simply because it was so... Simple. Its hard to explain.

Worth the time to read.
