Nobody is saying that pre-Synchro YGO was perfect but at least it wasn't an ADHD-ridden combofest that you have to study constantly to even understand. I've been playing for over a decade now and when I'm at locals, a lot of the time I just let my opponent make moves because there is SO, SO fucking many and if I had to ask for a readout of every card or call a judge over for every possibility of missed timing, all of my games would fucking time out.

Konami have also fucked the game by releasing super limited cards in the US then printing them as guaranteed pulls three months later, fucking with the card market, which has the knock-on effect of fucking up the tournament ecology and what people are playing.

People hate modern YGO because it's a fucking over-bloated mess of a property that should be either massively parsed back or just taken out back and put out of it's misery, double-barrel style.
