This is what makes it good. It would have been otherwise unrealistic and terrible if his feelings changed in the blink of an eye and became questionable. I think true love is best not rushed so I feel okay with seeing Rem romance develop slowly yet steadily and gradually.

I think people exaggerate some things. It's true that Subaru is attracted to every girl at the manor, and that he definitely encourages Rem's attention and enjoys it. Even shows off for her and gets jealous at times.

However, he doesn't take her feelings seriously until From Zero, despite being aware of them long before, and doesn't realize he's in love with her until some time later. Though the way no one would ever believe him when he denied having romantic feelings for Rem, as every older male character brings up, I think the roots for it were definitely set in place earlier.

There are a number of small scene changes they inserted elsewhere that kind of fuck things up. I actually started browsing old Futaba threads, and found people complaining about about how the anime re-contextualized the hug in the dragon carriage by adding a bump in the road.
