I made it about 4 episodes into season one; is there anything redeeming or is the entirety of the anime to be episode stories about shitty people fucking each other over?

The jornalist(?) guy and Tsugumi get more involved and eventually begin to try stopping people from pulling the string. The last five episodes or so stop being episodic and are entirely about the main cast.
Same thing for season two, first 15 episodes are mainly episodic, then the plot starts. Season 3 is shit.

So about 70% of each season is "episode stories about shitty people fucking each other over".
