I think this is one of the big causes of the manga's quality going downhill. Sinbad, both figuratively and literally, took the entire series hostage. From the chapters focused on him going to the SP and fighting Ugo and somehow coming back from being literally roasted to death to become God, to the fact that he also has his own prequel series about his adventures, it became clear that the author just loves the character too much, and that proved detrimental to the series as a whole since it became fucking saturated with Sinbad everywhere.

He had potential as a character, but the author trying to shove him in everyone's face basically ruined him.

More or less this. I liked Sinbad when I only knew him as the mentor figure to Alibaba and the Crew, as well as one of the more subtle movers and shakers of the world. Now he's the literal God Emperor and the ride to this point wasn't that fun. It doesn't help that when I started reading the Sinbad series the best moment I had of him was when he got mind broken and put in his place for a change.
