Middle School Sonoko easily beats Fuu and Karin in a race, won against Fuu in an arm wrestling contest, and outmanuevered Karin in YuYuYui. In WaSuYu (LN and the movies to some extent) Sonoko was obviously less athletic than Gin and Sumi. A growth spurt isn't enough to explain Sonoko's sudden increase in athletic ability after being unlogged, and Tougou herself was surprised by how strong Middle School Sonoko ended up being. The writers love to sprinkle hints throughout the franchise so I wouldn't be surprised if the returned sange'd body parts were Shinju-enhanced or something.

Taisha didn't take Wasshi to Shinju after she had the dream, it was the other way around. In the LN, Wasshi and Sonoko went to meet the tree after they purified themselves under the waterfall. Wasshi only received the oracle when she touched the tree directly and passed out because of it. Here in the movie, she got the dream without having to touch the tree just like Hinata.
