With all the video game-related anime and manga floating around, this one has popped up very recently and is kindly being translated by Yuri Project.
Think Saki but with arcade machines and fight sticks.
Dumping first few chapters.
>>159764124
That was a good start, let's try that with a hi-res cover.

>>159764274
>>159764312
This isn't the Tanoshii I'm looking for.
>>159764356
To sum up the MC - she's pretty unassuming, not great academically or popular in school, and is about to be shipped off to Vegas to help support her father's MMA dream.
>>159764124
>video game-related anime and manga
Has there been one yet with a scene where the MC yells at their younger sibling for bothering them while playing an online game, then the MC realizes they left their mic on?
>>159764436
>>159764418
Don't look at me, blame Ritz for allowing similar stories to be fleshed out while she lounges around with Igarashi and Saya.
>>159764523
MC spots a schoolmate.

Schoolmate walks into an arcade.

>>159764818
MC catches a glimpse of a stream of a certain fighting game tournament that's actually happening this weekend.
>>159764891
>>159764955
>>159765018
There is nothing quite like playing head to head in an arcade.
>>159765059
MC's got that determined look.
>>159764955
>not perfect-ing your opponent
Scrub.
>>159765109
I think every fighting game player has been on the receiving end like this at some point.
>>159765131
Here's your perfect right here.
>>159765181
Schoolmate is pretty competent at fighting games, it seems.
>>159765257
>>159765257
>Is this your first time playing this game or something
Wow, rude. Even if it is true.
>>159765301
This manga does go deeper into fighting game mechanics and mentality than I originally expected.
>>159765349
It also delves into this girl's delusions into turning esports.
It's unique and all but I don't see how lesbian power could possibly make a fighting game manga exciting.
Unique but not gonna get far.
>>159765419
Enough basics, back to beating down on the poor newbie.
>>159765426
True, I don't see it having lesbian super powers like Saki but it'll be a fun little read while it lasts, especially for fighting game enthusiasts.
>>159765559
Something's triggered the schoolmate.
>>159765426
Besides, it'll be more about the head to head competition that will make it exciting, which a lot of sports series excel at.
>>159765629
>>159765629
>[MUH PRO ONEECHAN INTENSIFIES]
>>159765707
Fighting game fans will appreciate the frame data.
Though it's a 2D fighting game, they don't really have mids, they're usually called overheads instead.
>>159765788
18 frame is fucking long. Retard. Try 12 or 10.
>>159765788
"This, this pressure"
>>159765851
Maybe it's a special low? To be fair, 18 frames might be plenty against a novice to spot.
>>159765982
MC is leaving for today, and she's made up her mind to support her dad.
Schoolmate has other ideas.
Maybe the series might attract more interest if the fighting scene gets better. But looking at it now, there's still a long way to go.
>>159766044
It's that "Nodoka reaching out to Saki" moment.
>>159766113
It's that "I don't enjoy playing mahjong" moment.
>>159766217
>>159766088
There's a ton of series with great ideas that don't stick around forever, we'll just have to enjoy what we get with this particular series.
>>159766303
MC (and life) is about to move on when someone calls out to her.
>>159766357
That was a pretty quick transfer, to be fair.
>>159766411
>>159766411
Did she stalk her home?
>>159766450
>Don't move to another country so you can play games with me!
This doesn't sound very convincing.
>>159766450
"Let's go to the Nationals!" or something to that effect.
And that was Chapter 001 of Itukaminoreba/ Someday, We'll Get There.
>>159766485
>This doesn't sound very convincing.
It gets a whole lot weirder in the next chapter.
>>159764124
>Think Saki but with arcade machines and fight sticks.
You have my full attention now.
I wonder how this will stand with Hi Score Girl
>>159764436
Hold up.
>(2) ching chong nip nong : Triangle-marked??
>(3) Blank : Tick correct
???
I think it's time for Chapter 002.
>>159766548
>>159766934
I spot some Hori HRAP Hayabusa sticks.
>>159767057
>>159766934
>2 girls alone playing with joysticks
I'm sold.
>>159767120
Misunderstandings, misunderstandings everywhere.
Poor girl's gonna be dragged into fighting games kicking and screaming.
>>159767170
>>159767216
Poor TV-kun.
>>159767266
Technically most TVs will have more than 12 frames of input lag anyway, so ideally you should play your fighting games on monitors (though TVs are infinitely more convenient).
>>159767216
>>159767363
The struggle is real when the most up-to-date version of a game is stuck in the arcades.
>>159767431
On second thought, that was entirely off-topic.
>>159767431
I actually know Melty Blood players who play purely on keyboards (the hitbox is a hybrid between a fight stick and a keyboard anyway). There are certain things that these controllers allow people to do that you wouldn't be able to do on a normal joypad or joystick (hold backwards while walking forwards, etc.).
>>159767423
I also know people who can't remember what it's like to be a beginning player and not allowing someone to explore a game's characters for themselves.
>>159767560
Yes there are apps for frame data for specific fighting games, they are serious business.
>>159767656
A lesson in how not to introduce someone to the world of competitive fighting games.

In other news, there are Jehova's Witnesses everywhere, you cannot escape them even in Japan.
>>159767816
And she's gone.
>>159767816
Truly the worst.
>>159767856
A different day, a different arcade.
>>159767928
More rhythm game-oriented.
>>159768008
"A New Warrior Has Entered The Ring"
>>159768076
It seems MC's natural talents extend to rhythm games too (no surprises really, they both require good reflexes).
>>159768128
Uh-oh, this conversation only goes one way.
>>159768201
This hoodied girl must be a rhythm game fanatic or something.
>>159768257
>>159768310
Yup, mysterious hooded girl said it.
"Fun"
This is how the world ends, by making things tanoshii for people.
>>159768343
>>159768391
She sort of gets the point, but at the same time completely misses it.
>>159768443
>>159768480
I think she's forgiven for now. But who is the mysterious hooded girl? Guess we'll find out soon.
That's it for Chapter 002. Might dump the last one in a bit, gonna make some tea first.
Right, onto Chapter 003 of Fighting Game Tanoshii.
>>159768545
>>159769067
>>159769115
Really? PSP?
>>159769187
Looks like Shijou is actually the popular, smart and sporty but mysterious girl at school.
Also looks like Mino isn't as unassuming as she thinks.
>>159769250
>>159769302
Not quite the club anyone expects, but there is good reason.
>>159769351
>>159769442
>>159769481
You know you're poverty when you grow vegetables to scrounge change and fund your arcade habits.

Explanation on fighting game "frames" incoming.
>>159769618
>>159769658
>>159769695
No love lost between these two then.
That's basically how I get into fighting games - finding the fun first, then learning the intricacies.
>>159769799
I smell a challenge approaching.
>>159769837
>>159769888
So not only is Mino competing, she's the prize between their little squabble.
>>159769924
Looks like ZTT used to be a known player in her local scene before she got the rhythm game bug (wouldn't be the first time it's happened to people).
This can only go so well.
>>159769888
>asking for coins so she can tryhard even more
>>159769976
That naive confidence.
>>159770021
not*
>>159770022
>>159770083
>>159770170
These are the questions that people with no real tournament or competition experience think of.
>>159770211
This last question is pretty deep though, and pretty much underpins why it can be hard for people to get into competitive gaming, especially fighting games.
And with that last page, that's it for now in terms of releases so far. I'll keep my eye out for new releases for the translations. Hope you enjoyed it.
>>159770290
Nah, most people don't end up with champions who can wreck their mentor as their first serious opponent.
>>159770647
Of course not, everyone I know in my local fighting game community started from bottom just like me. Some started after me and progressed faster, others started before me yet are slower to progress. Different strokes for different people.
What I was really pointing out was her question - it's not really "what's so fun about fighting games?" but a veiled way of asking "why should I bother putting my time learning this stuff?", a question casuals should be asking before they try to make the competitive jump.
This is a work of fiction so obviously she's going to have plot armour of some sort, but it's nice to have that introspection about your chosen hobbies.
How yuri is this.
>>159771048
Your goggles may need to be tuned a bit to see it - not as blatant as Saki but we're only three chapters in, I'd give it time.
I guess we'll need to wait and see if panties exist.
>>159764607
bump for reading

>1. Move to Las Vegas and ....????
>2. Stay in Japan to play video games.
Pretty shitty choices in life.
>>159767656
learn this impossibly complicated game
>mfw we got Gaymers! for anime adaption instead of this
>>159769534
Maybe gardening is how Achiga could afford that expensive hotel in Tokyo for Zenkoku.
>>159769658
learning is fun
>>159771048
Wait another 150 chapters or so.
>>159764124
Lemme guess, FeMC is Daigo?
>>159764124
thanks, will follow
>>159764124
>Think Saki but with arcade machines and fight sticks.
I was looking for gay
>>159764124
Fill the bookshelves and airwaves with tanoshii!
>>159773748
It's all fun until somebody gets hurt.
>>159764124
Fighting games are never fun
>>159771048
It's tame.
>>159778727
She died for our sins.
Mostly Achiga's.
>>159773748
Padded bra?
>>159769658
>tfw hate fighting games
This triggered me so much.
>>159772501
>forced to gamble and get her money stolen by her family
Good old times, Saki.
>>159767560
Even now, playing Melty Blood on anything else feels awkward after playing MBAC and beyond extensively on a keyboard. Meanwhile, after getting used to a fight stick, everything other game only feels natural with it.
>>159783588
Don't bother learning frame data and all the technical stuff before the game. ZTT is right, you're supposed to enjoy learning the game rather than being a two bit shit hustling tech monster from the get go. There has been far too many times I've met or played people that have intimate knowledge of frame data for a game but suck at actual execution.
>>159767560
>The female characters are made so you can't win tournaments with them.
Are there actually games where this is true? I can't think of any.
>>159784007
I can only think of Blazblue since that's the only fighting games I used to play.Bullet.
