This is maybe the most surprised I've been that an adaptation exists.

I remember happening upon it while browsing AniDB. Tempted to just try it out, as I loved the books when I was a kid. Seems like it have been better as an episodic TV anime rather than a movie though.

are the books really popular in japan or something?

Cause unlike the Deltora Quest anime which happened because the author's sons where really into it and she didn't want any live action movies, I can't imagine why Magic Tree house would get an anime

Hmm, my niece and nephew can't read yet, might wait to see if a shit dub comes out. Or maybe they'll just say whatever and watch it through without actually knowing what's going on.
