Watsuki does/did have plans for him, maybe they weren't the best though

When is this story supposed to start? I've seen the OP months ago.
Also at the end of the manga Kenshin was unable to fight anymore due to all the injuries he received during his life, and gave his sword to Yahiko, are they going to ignore that and have him fight again?

it was supposed to be spring of this year but it was pushed back to summer, so we should be seeing news about it pop up soon. and in the last chapters Kenshin did say he would still fight, not that it was a good idea, my hope is he'll be saved for just key battles and that we'll see consequences for when he does fight, really thats the most I can hope for since we know he'll be the MC

I'm doubtful. I mean this series finished over ten years ago; if he truly had plans for a sequel then why not start it up much earlier? Not to mention that all of his work after Kenshin basically flopped so it just makes me think even more that he's using his one hit to make money once again.

Most likely he gathered ideas and had a desire to revive the franchise as others did: Sailor Moon, CCS, Dragon Ball. Gotta cash in those grown-up fujoshi and waifufags with spending money
