Runners High is the best pillows album. Fight me.

no it isn't

And what do you think is the best Pillows album?
>>159627220
Please Mr. Lostman
>>159627740
eeh, that's an acceptable choice. The songs on Runners High are just so consistently good though.
>>159625774
I like really anything from 97 to 04

Fair. I think it's tragic that there early stuff (89-95) is so hard to find. That smooth jazz sound is so nice but yeah, late 90's early 00's is probably there best sound. Their more recent stuff is kinda...far for my taste.

I disagree, and I'm putting My Foot down on this.
>>159628631
kinda like midlife crisis hit them a bit too hard?
I do like some early stuff, there's some of it is very 90's experimental-ish, like flaming lips but different.

Also good. Top 5 most definitely.
>>159628716
Exactly

Gazelle City and My foot are good songs, because they sound like earlier songs, but the rest of the album is very forgettable in my OPINION....

I've only heard the OOSTs. Didn't know their actual albums were worth listening to.

a lot of their stuff sounds like the FLCL soundtrack so, if you liked it, go for it. I suggest "Another Morning, Another Pillows", since it has quite a few songs and still manages to be somewhat consistent all the way through both discs.

Anything between 94 and 04 is generally considered great. They went through alot of sound changes between forming in 89 and now. The middle is a good blend. I guess you would call it their golden age.
I'd have to say top 5 is:
1. Runners High
2. Happy Bivouac
3. Please Mr. Lostman
4. Little Busters
5. Living Field
and a shoutout to Penalty Life for being a fucking odd experience.
I have to admit though, Moon Gold and White Incarnation don't get enough love. It's a different niche but still the pillows. Kind of amazing how their sound can change so much but retain it's spirit across almost 30 years.
