Even for Gonzo I'm pretty sure Akiba's Trip didn't look this bad. Maybe it's all the producers which made the difference.

I'm getting Occultic;Nine vibes from this. As in, something's going on and the show is rushing to explain none of it. For a first episode, it looks cheap and effort only went into backgrounds, which at the best of times look amazing and at the worst like gradients. Not impressed, but it can still curry favor.

The mc being a no emotion naruto clone sure didn't help this.

The animation does look cheap, then again it is Gonzo. I think this show might be good if it takes the "stuck in a dream" aspect to their full advantage. I always wanted to see an anime explore dreams and maybe even the human subconscious, though I doubt it.

Seemed dumb at first, but this turned out kind of nice, even if the MCs lecture fell a bit flat. I think this'll be really therapeutic.
My biggest issue is the character designs and how ill-defined they are -- compared to even the background stuffed animals looked better.
Also hoping they keep the motion blur like pic related to a minimum.

18if establishes that there is some dreamscape that people share. That's fine. But we don't really know who any character is. The MC is bland and has no background or establishment. The Professor is one-note and provides close to no exposition that can clarify the beginning point of the show. Of what we are given about him, his knowledge of the dreamscape, it's actually undermined. He claims to be an expert, or at least knowledgeable of dreams, and says that death in the dream is death in real life. It turns out not to be true. Audiences need some sort of consistency for grounding in the show's world and its ruleset. We got none of that. I'm just confused.
