This is your restaurant for tonight.

Don't mind the half-demon hobo and the space elf.
I swear the service here is good, a dragon gave it five stars.

Oh, and I think it is implied from the text that these fairies are upper-class. So once again confirming that most customers are not randomly coming from off the streets.
>>

>To them it must be huge.
>>159476767
>Neat that the crepe was sliced up so the fairies can pick them up.
That reminds me of the Discworld talking about the difference in biology causing economic inequality. That a pixie of fairy could potentially do clerical work and get the same amount of pay as a human, but then needing food that is only a 1/10 in volume to survive. The crepe is expensive by Fantasy standards, but that one plate serves an entire group of them. There is at least 15 servings for the fairies. For what, a silver piece at most?
>>
>>159475900
Baking a decent cake, even from scratch, isn't exactly difficult. Its probably a special reservation because its an uncommon request so he doesn't typically pre-prepare them.

Yeah, Wee Mad Arthur pretty much had the system beat. Iirc he made a killing as an exterminator because he was able to undercut the guild's prices due to said scaled economics.
>>
>>159476915
What a fairies save on food is compensated by the fact that all distances are relatively longer to them so they exert more effort than humans consuming more "fuel", also their small size makes them vulnerable (a human can flick them with a finger). So when you consider both the pros and the cons, it's not that much of an edge.
>>
>>159477115
Honestly the first episode was pretty weak. It was mostly fantasy guys bickering over rice followed by a half demon's sob story. I hope next episode is more like what the OP shows.

In the example from discworld he referenced said character is a Nac Mac Feegle who is only a Fairy by technicality of being from Fairyland. They've got the full strength (Not proportional) of an adult man compressed into a tiny body and will crack your skull in for calling them a Fairy. Or for fun. Or because they thought you had gold or beer in your head. Or just because.

Think of them as strong, angry, drunk smurfs.
>>
>>159477305
Yeah, but how well do fairies do with drafting human sized documents. And how well would they take with being paid less due to their cost of living being lower? Or you could just get one of those fancy imp powered magical assistant devices like Vimes had that will do all the work for free.
>>
>>159477677
> fairies paid less
Fairies legitimately need less. They'll undercut humans and then undercut other fairies to get a job.

Drafting human documents isn't a big deal when the real demand is in really tiny legal disclaimers that most fools don't read.
>>
>>159477874
That's when you start hiring pixie laywers. But when you create pixie laywers they eventually sue for tiny people discrimination when you give them a tiny check only worth half as much as a big persons. Then your stuck with pixies and fairies doing the jobs humans used to do but now at full price anyways and you can't fire them and import gnomes because of prejudice laws the pixies put in place.

Interesting, I was just reading the translated novels and the restaurant door has an interesting restriction.

1. There are multiple doors scattered across the world all leading to the restaurant. Some are easily accessed, others are in deep dungeons, others end up in people's houses.

2. Each door can only be opened once per Saturday. And when you go back you always get put back where you came from. Because it is only usable once a week, popular door locations are often literally assigned armed guards to stop unauthorised use by strangers. It also meant those who know of a secret door, tend to not tell anyone other than really close family. Because having a private door for your own use is the only way to make sure you get to visit the restaurant every week.

3. Despite this, there are enough doors in the world that many doors were left unused, or only used occasionally by chance. Many doors end up in the middle of nowhere so even if its location was known, it is not safe to try to go there regularly.

The one use per week per door limit is really the kicker. It explains why so many people try to keep the restaurant's very existence quiet.

>Can multiple people pass through a door as it's open at the same time, or is it one person per door?
Multiple people can. The point is you had to close the door behind you at some point, and of course you would hate it if some bastard got to the door before you did.

Also, part of the magic is used to explain why everyone can speak to each other. This only applies to the spoken words though, the menus had to be custom designed to match the written language readable by the customer.
>>
>>159485609
Oh, and remember that the restaurant does takeout.
The lizardmen chapter basically had them made a ritual out of sending their best warrior to the restaurant to have the privilege of eating there, and order takeout to bring food back to share with the rest of the tribe.
>>
>>159485962
Oh, and The Lizardmen could only afford to do this once a year. They specifically traded with humans just to have the currency. It can't be helped, they are a primitive people with stone tools.

>>159482873

If they were smarter they would rent out the weekly use of their door and be able to use it themselves more often.
>>
>>159486392

That's not as racist as some other forum that tried to argue that the demon girl should have been evil because "The Bible said so". That it is unacceptable that demons are portrayed to have morality. Not racist if it's true. You can't trust elves in any situation. Good thing Kuro's a dragon, they're more trustworthy than elves.

>Since the classes of people who come into the store seem to vary widely, does the menu have a set price or anything?

There's a set price, but it's set pretty low. Entertaining the weekly otherworld guests is basically the owner's hobby. He tries to make sure no one who wanders in gets turned away.

Red Dragon Queen pays in gold because it would be beneath her dignity to do less, not because the menu price is high.

>There's a set price, but it's set pretty low. Entertaining the weekly otherworld guests is basically the owner's hobby. He tries to make sure no one who wanders in gets turned away.
One thing I noted while reading is that no one in the novel really complained about the price. They were given a menu so they weren't being blindsided, so the price must be within expectations of a good restaurant. On the other hand everyone realised that the food they are getting can't actually be had anywhere else, so it is technically priceless.

One woman was even worried about having to pay for water with icecubes in them.

It is also mentioned more than once that the side dishes are available at unlimited quantities within reason. So as much soup and bread as you like. He also randomly lets new customers eat for free if he felt like it. The advantage of being the owner who can make decisions like that. A lot of people who accidentally stumble in the door are unlikely to have money on them.

But one has to make a note that most customers are upper crust. Great warriors, nobles, wealthy merchants. People who have disposable income. If spending a silver coin for a meal is too much, you are better off using that coin for something else more productive.
