For example when a gyaru speaks Japanese slang and the translator tries to put a supposedly equivalent Western tween slang like "like" or "whatevs", they think it's a better translation than using standard English which conveys the meaning but doesn't convey the crareless languaeg the character used.

Inserting expletives is the same. When a yankee says "shine" (literally die), it's equivalent to the Western speaker according to them is "die motherfucker" because American use expletives in their daily lives more so "die" doesn't convey the desired effect. Of course some insert blatant meme-faggotry an script-write for attention, but we're not talking about trollsubs here, we're talking about memesubs.Obviously, I'm against localization but I get what they're coming from.
