It's about integrity within a series and what scenarios the author sets out within the limits they define for themselves.

In bad (shounen action/adventure) manga the author creates a power system to allow characters to be 'quantified' in battle or comparison as well as being able to understand a character via their qualities as a character e.g. hero, anti hero, villain, enemy goon etc.

Bad mangakas give in to power creep where the system reaches ridiculous levels of competition or completely break the rules they themselves outlined in earlier chapters/events.

I don't think this "nen gets stronger after death" actually means what you're implying.

From what I recall, this line was more in the context of the Kupapika/Chrollo situation, and how the Nen the former had put into the latter's heart wouldn't simply extinguish: it would probably burst and kill Chrollo, by being activated by Kurapika's strong grudge.
