Would you be willing to live with a cute Steppe waifu?

At worst, they get displaced like they did in real history. Relocating and/or having to live under Russian people coming in and stealing all of their land is what generally happens.

This isn't Shut Hell. This is Otoyomegatari which literally means a Bride's Tale. If you're familiar with her other work like Emma, she tends to overemphasize things.

I just want Mr. Smith to get with his widowed wife lover. I really hope for them to get together since she's technically one of the brides.

>>

When does it take place again? If past 700AD they probably got slammed
>>

Early 1900's.

Don't know about the Uzbeks though (which is what I'm assuming they are at).
>>
>>159327187
Really? I assumed 1600s at least. Isn't that too contemporary? If so, yes. All muslim.
>>
>>159327241
The key indicator was the presence of rifles, Russians, and the fact that the author stated that this was around the time when the Great Game between the Russian Empire and Great Britain was happening.

She really seems to like this time period seeing as Emma was around the same time.
>>
>>159327274
You can also tell they aren't tengrii and muslim by the way they cover a bit of their hair, but not all of it.
Keep posting more art though. It's really exotic.

I think Early-1900's or somewhere around the late 1800's. It's been a while since I've read it

Mongols are generally the bad guys and the one guy who is the son of Genghis Khan is a god damn badass despite being a young boy. There's also the whole younger boy-older girl thing going on there too.

I don't think there's any mention of Turkic clans in there yet as Genghis Khan is busy exterminating the Tangut and the Chinese during the time period and hasn't run into the Khwareziem Empire yet.

That would be the Iran arc. It was incredibly sweet and while I'm against polygamy in manga at all, the husband was incredibly chill about it and is a stand-up guy

Now if only Mr. Smith could get with that widow...
>>
>>159330245
Yeah I liked how chill and supportive the husband was. Cool dude. I guess it makes sense since polygamy is prevalent in that culture
>>
>>159327473
Consider how different Buddhism is in Japan to Tibet, or from China to Sri Lanka. Religion usually blends with your local culture, to make it more palatable when you're in the process of converting from older beliefs. In the past you were more likely to retain a distinct cultural identity, since there was less printed media and no TV or Internet. The same is still true today in some places, But the fact that there is easier travel and accessible media means that people are more likely to pick up trends from other dominant cultures, hence the reason many Muslims today practice the Arabian style Islam, complete with hijabs that were never mentioned in any holy texts. In a way it's made the world a lot more boring.

>Mongols are generally the bad guys and the one guy who is the son of Genghis Khan is a god damn badass despite being a young boy.

Probably because by the age of 15 Temujin himself was a badass. He had already murdered his older brother to be the new patriarch of the family when he was 8 years old.
>>
>>159332569
NTR or bust.
>>
>>159327373

You can be both. Timur Khan was a devout muslim himself. Ironically he slaughtered millions of other muslims in his conquests.

Also his army was rare in how it allowed female fighters in it as well, so he was one Khan that had plenty of steppe waifus in his army ranks. Just imagine those cute moe steppe women murdering entire cities and making huge towers from clay and severed heads.
>>
>>159332883
he was badass warrior but man, he doesn't know shit about how to govern the empire
he overextended his empire, and died without esthablishing proper administration
so his lands divided among his sons and soon either they got crumbled due to infighting or assimilated into another culture
>>
>>159333268

>he overextended his empire, and died without esthablishing proper administration

Thats because he gave the power to his son Ögedei in direct succession. It was only after the death of Ögedei when the empire slowly split into pieces.

Still, you could count the Yuan dynasty as continuation of Mongol empire because it was a dynasty of mongolian rulers, the chinese hairstyle with bald head and long black braid behind came from Yuan dynasty, it was a sign of chinese as lower caste than their mongol overlords.

So in Kublai khan and his dynasty the mongol empire lived on until Ming took over 100 years later. Ironically Ming themselves got curbstomped by the manchu who were quite similar to mongols in being rough people living in steppes.

Greece was under Ottoman rule for 400 years.

>>159338492
I think she does it monthly so long as she doesn't take a hiatus because she probably takes a fuckton of time to draw these chapters. I remember a while back that Mori took a 6 month break because she was just so burned out from researching and drawing. She truly is the ideal mangaka.

>>
>>159342644
Genghis's waifu was older by only a couple of months. Karluk's marriage is probably over exaggerated.
>>
>>159340522
>>159341595
Thats not how it works anon.>>159340766 and>>159341060 are right.
The original Turks were central asian steppe nomads, like the Mongols. Look at Turkmen from Turkmenistan instead of Turks from Turkey. Said Turks got Persianized, became Muslims, conquered western Asia, including Anatolia. The former Eastern Roman subjects of Greek, Pontic, Anatolian, and Ionian descent simply considers themselves Turks over time under Turkish rule. Steppe concept of nationhood are very fluid, they dont care how you look, as long you speak and act as they are, you're one of them. Also the number of Steppe nomads are just a drop in the bucket compared to settled peoples, so they wont displace the local's genetic pool in large percentage.

tldr most Turks are just Anatolian, Ionian, Pontics, Greeks who are Turkic wannabes
>>
>>159342796
Yeah but that's Mongolia. Middle East and Islamic Steppe Plains might be a bit different in that regard, especially when the man is supposed to be the dominant one in the relationship and that's difficult with an older wife.
>>

I think my favorite part about Pariya is that when she was first introduced, she looked like she was going to be this catty bitch that Amira was going to butt heads with because she was an outsider, but she turned out to be such a nice girl. Steppe da best.
>>
>>159327373
The thing with Steppe people is simple.

What you think of muslims they really aren't. The typical Arab or Persian muslim with his rules and shit.

Islam in Central Asia is more like this.

>Turko-Mongolian tribes almost as whole were slow to accept certain Islamic tenets, such as giving up the consumption of alcohol or bathing before prayer. This is, however believed to relate more directly to their nomadic lifestyle and local tradition than their faith in God and devotion to Islamic law and text.

Central Asia is very foreign and unknown to probably everyone. They're also probably the best Muslims outside of Bosnia really... Bosnia being I think the most secular Muslims out there.

No. Basically the people causing the most problems for muslims are wahhabis with forcing women to be subservient dogs and wear black mailboxes. There are the basic tenets which are followed by every muslim, and on top of that, the melding of these tenets into each muslim's own culture from his people. Some arabs want this culture to be removed, which is why even other muslims hate arabs.

Take an illiterate yokel, teach him a holy book, but don't teach him to read it. (also, the book is prohibited from being translated)
Now tell him to go and convert people.

This is exactly why Bacha Bazi and rape gangs exist: in islam, homosexual love is prohibited, but a man having sex with another man is tacitly approved.

>"U.S. Army medic completing a year-long tour in a rural area of Kandahar province. She and her male colleagues were approached by a local gentleman seeking advice on how his wife could become pregnant. When it was explained to him what was necessary, he reacted with disgust and asked “How could one feel desire to be with a woman, who God has made unclean, when one could be with a man, who is clean? Surely this must be wrong.”

Emma is excellent. If I have any complaint, it's that it ends in a very female style. What I mean is, the story sets up this grand climax, and it's ultimately settled with talking. If a man were writing it, someone would have gotten punched in the face or shot. That's why I was pleasantly surprised Kaoru Mori had a couple battle scenes in Otoyomegatari with people getting stabbed.

But that was actually believable. Author actually showed personality of Amira and the boy.
But in window's case, author didn't. Just blank timid widow. It was more like "My husband died and, you know, I love you. No, no, i'm not desperate at all!". And she didn't even said so herself, some other old hag did. "Listen up, widow. You cannot support household by yourself. You see that foreigner fuckboy? We can make him your husband in no time. There's a difference between arranged marriages and forced marriages. Arranged marriages are great, both in fiction and in real life. People who enter into arranged marriages generally have a more stable bond and get divorced at a much lower rate. That's because

1. Your family is actively trying to find someone compatible with you.
2. People who enter arranged marriages take the institute seriously.
3. You're not blinded by emotions.
>>
>>159365266
To be honest, statistics show that arranged marriages have a far lower rate of both divorce and abuse (in the same region; comparing shitholestan to, say, France or the UK isn't a fair comparison because of differing crime rates in general).
>>

But yeah, arranged marriage can work, if people are decent.
But everything can work, if people are decent.
>>
>>159365893
>>159365948
Well, modern western view of love and marriage is all kinds of fucked up, and the divorce rate points to that. I bet if the culture tended to separate love and marriage a bit more, and also paint love as something your work for instead of something that happens, you'd see a drop in marriage rate, but divorce rate would stabilize at a lower level.

That said, you do have to be careful about equating "not divorced" with "working, stable marriage," since in an arranged marriage there are a lot more incentives to staying together and there's pressure from both families and the culture of the people involved. Also, expectations are different, so what people define as "good" for arrange marriage is different to what people define as good for other kinds of marriage. Finally, things like cheating or fights are less likely to end an arranged marriage, and depending on the culture are either acceptable, or swept under the rug and kept as kind of an open secret.
>>
>>159366316
Psychologically, marriage tends towards a middle stability because being in close proximity with someone for a long time and having forcibly the same interests (money, keep your house, etc.) tends to build a bond. Obviously if the marriage is completely twisted it won't work, but generally speaking from a purely scientific (aka "fuck ur feels lol") point of view, it seems to be the case that simply being together for X years in societies where divorce is extraordinarily difficult ends up in a 'satisfaction rate' that's roughly equal. Think x+[5*sin(x)/x] for the curve of the relationship really, the earlier in the relationship the easier you swing back and forther, later on you get a lower-key, but steadier relationship. Not always, but this is the average.
>>

It was one of the last semi-civilised parts of the world to be explored by the West, and because it's so irrelevant today it still carries that sense mystique. Does that really make her turn away from guys and go full lesbian though? She said she's uncomfortable around guys but she is:

2) Financially stable

3) Incredibly beautiful for her age which I think is around 38

She could literally nab any man who actually likes her

The mangaka lifestyle isn't particularly conducive towards long term relationships, even if you're a successful, established author/artist like Mori is.
>>
>>159370821
>She could literally nab any man who actually likes her
Aight firstly, getting turned off from men doesn't mean you become a carpet muncher
Secondly, mangakas do shit like 14 hour days, not because of some 'le japanese workethic' thing but simply due to the fact that drawing is slow work.
Thirdly, the fact that she can nab any man who likes her is the problem, isn't it? The hottest girl in uni could've nabbed anyone she wanted, but if she wasn't the type to want a trillion boys with erect dicks staring at her tits all day long, I think she'd start getting a little annoyed.

>>159371540
Yeah, but not necessarily to attract a mate. If you're going to invoke biology, there's another reason peacocks flash their feathers - to show women they're sexy, yes, but also to show them that they're just respectable in general, and also to show other MALES that you're a big deal. And beyond simply biology, grooming yourself is a sign of discipline, and not doing so past a certain point invites scorn.

>shit personality
You don't get it. If a girl looks nice, that doesn't mean she should purposely make herself look like shit if she doesn't want imbeciles who can't keep it in their pants drooling over her. People like you are the exact reason why girls like this get progressively more bothered, because you can't fathom that there's reasons for looking good beyond wanting to bang, and therefore also probably look like an oily mess when staring at her. People like you are why [r9k] turned into what it did. People like you are why feminists get such a foothold, because the strawmen retards they flail against actually exist, and sadly, half of them have probably met one.
>>
>>159370821
You're a fucking retard. Being passionate about your vocation, successful in it, and attractive- none of these have anything to do with social skills. It might not be evident where you are, but interacting with men and women is noticeably different in many aspects.

How are you not getting this? Some people like feeling pretty in a vacuum. Some people, stereotypically girls, just like nice clothes and looking good- and some do it just because it's a nice sensation. There's no reason to factor in how people will look at you when you dress if you like it.

Why not just live and let live?

That's another level still and you can get away with not very neat clothes during day to day somewhat without stigma, though I have of course no idea what the norm is for mangakas. I was in the other thread. That's not her. That's a woman who runs a cooking blog under the name Kaoru Mori.

It's cool, I was wondering because she shows first in both Kaoru Mori and under artistic pseudonym Agata Fumio.
People argue that's the person on the photo isn't her, but can't come up with an answer who it might be. Is it normal for Mangakas to remain anonymous despite being this popular?
>>
>>159361546
I will never understand primitive peoples' bizarre backwards idea of "cleanliness" being some abstract poorly grasped spiritual concept and nothing to do with how disgustingly filthy and slimy their ballsacks must be.
>>
>>159375217
Most mangaka don't like to be photographed but Kaoru Mori is a unique case where she takes it up to 1000 and literally has very few pictures of herself online.

If the OP did actually get a picture from her, you'd have to ask futaba where they got it from.
>>
>>159368429
From the another topic, definitely she isn't Kaoru Mori mangaka, well at least the first photo isn't.

The first one is from Korean drama Wild Romance, and the actress is Lim Ju-Eun.

That's possibly a latter interpretation. Ziony Zevit makes an intriguing argument that the original Hebrew word referred to the baculum.

It's wouldn't be the first case tidying up Biblical translations: the description of the Behemoth in Job 40 ("He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.") almost certainly refers to the impressive size of its penis and testicles, even though in more prudish times it was implied the passage was talking about strong thighs and an elephant's trunk.

Memes aside, concept of "love" is pretty complex.
Ancient greeks, for example, had 6 words for love.
In their terms, for me, real love is closer to philia, than eros.

People, who love others just because of the appearance, are no better than sexual deviants who get off from stockings or high heels.
Body is just a part of a person. You can only love person as a whole or not at all.

Otoyomegatari is fiction though and it's all about happy marriages and how love always finds a way to succeed despite the circumstances.

Smith and Tarasu are in love but cannot be together currently due to their circumstances. An omake showed Tarasu is free to do what she wants to do, but she has to wait for Smith to return.

Before 'mordecai' came to the peninsula 'from the north' (founder of al-saud clan and saudi arabia) today's saudi arabia used to be 2 separate countries where their literal existence and methods of making a living is pretty much raid/loot/steal/slaughter/coerce everything other than their own tribes/blood-related extended families. their society, culture, history and religion is basically what you'd expect from desert orc bandits from fantasy novels that revel on pillaging, beheading/killing all the men and taking women and children (both girls and boys) as slaves - minus the magic, green skin, and durability.

It's becoming more and more apparent that the author is going out of his way to make ownership of women as though it were a good or at least acceptable thing.

Every story Arc save one has said this, and even that is related to such.
1. Dispute over ownership of a women with claims of ownership being that of marriage verses blood.
2. Side story of relative facing the unacceptable possibility of being older and not married, and their efforts to get her a husband.
3. Story about even the remotest of connections of a man in a womans life, meaning ownership of that women. Despite the man being only related by marriage to a ex-mother in law,(which is a exceedingly slim connection) he was able to decide who she was to marry and not marry, she was still his property, because he was a man, and she was a women(aka a thing to be owned). Now this wasn't specifically romanticized, but it was treated as inevitable/natural, the MC Mr Smith giving no effort at all to try to help the women he had agreed to marry and presumably loved.
4. Twins so desperate to get married, they resorted to "tomboyish" (gasp!) pranky behavior in their effort to to get married. Literally trying to catch husbands. Well its resolved when their father sells them off to the sons of his friend.
5. Women can't be with her friend and help her financially unless she gets her husband to marry her as a second wife. She was lonely in her gilded cage after all, and the only option is for another women to be trapped in the cage too, even with the nicest of husbands. (author says, see, polygamy has a good side too, I say, just let her visit her friend and provide her money)
>>
>>159396156
And finally the invasion arc, which isn't directly something that makes ownership of women sound good or natural, but it's very much part of arc 1 which is about ownership of a women.

You want to say that's only about historical accuracy? I say that's BS, clearly the authors pushing the subject. But even if it were just about historical accuracy, fine, let that part of history burn away and be forgotten. It's a past ugly part of human nature, well it exists nowadays too, but to a lesser degree.

The Xaela are at least. The Raen abandoned the steppes and assimilated into Doman and Hingan society, with a small number establishing an isolationist kingdom under the sea.

Central Asia was generally in the Iranic cultural sphere. That's why Greater Iran - Arya - usually incorporates all of that. You can usually tell you're dealing with a somewhat Persianized culture or one from that group by the suffix -stan on their country. It's Persian for "land of the".

>>159327162
>>159327187
Not 1900s, but certainly 1700s, 1800s. The Russians are about to begin their crusade against the Khanates of Central Asia. The Golden Horde that had subsumbed the Princes has long passed.

If 1830s right now, might actually get to see the Sikh Empire. It was when that fell that the British advanced into Afghanistan.

>>159336731
>Chechen flag

>>159365094
I can tell you.

Khanate warriors ride out thinking it's still 800s and not 1800s.

Russians decimate them with massed rifle and artillery fire, and then their cavalry cut down the few poor bastards left who try to run away.

The Russians either make the khan surrender on pain of death, or just kill him anyways, replaced with a governor. Encourage the usual rape and then some. Kill some of the men that are left. Encourage settlers from Moscow, St Petersburg, Kiev, to flood on down, etc. Burn down mosques, or ask the Patriarch to send priests and make them a church. Marry the surplus women. Stick the remainders in school, learning Russian, and then move on and rinse/repeat.

Cue some hundred plus years later, when the Soviet Union is breaking apart, you notice that tons of peoples' names are Russified, the language is in Cyrillic alphabet, and there seems to be an awful lot of Russians around, running things.

Also, bonus, all of you dreaming of a nomadic waifu are in for a shock - there are none anymore on the steppes. They all got settled down, well over a century ago.

If you want a nomad waifu, your best bet is to goto Darfur or South Sudan.

What do you mean, exactly?

Assuming the standard plan of annexing all west of the Urals, and eventual establishment of Reichkomissariats, they would have tried making a stab at sponsoring an Islamist, Central Asian Turkestan with the goal of reviving the title of the Calipha, since Ataturk abolished the title when he crashed the Ottoman Empire with no survivors. Basically, a revival of the Basmachi Islamic revolt which happened during the Russian Civil War.

So basically Nazi sponsored Wahabbism a few decades early.

>https://www.amazon.com/How-Hitler-Could-Have-World/dp/0812932021

He made lots of decisions that cost him the war. (See [Bevin])

Basically:
Preventing the evacuation of Dunkirk, after success fell into his lap because the Allies failed at understanding tank conflicts.
(Then taking Britain. (He told the Luftwaffe to stand down after they successfully destroyed 6 of 7 RAF intelligence centers in London (that directed the planes) through the Nazis had at that point stopped attacking Radar stations.)
Then taking Suez-Kanal and Egypt (taking over the Mediterranean sea) and threatening the Soviet Oil-Fields and taking North Africa. Also gaining Dakar as a Submarine-Operation base.

But the main thing is that the Holocaust and the Lebensraum-shit (with the Masterrace-Bullshit) took away valuable manpower.

Bevin says Hitler could have even managed to take down the Soviet Union in the stupid direct assault (I also heard that elsewhere), but bungled it up.

###

That is all beside the point. Assume the Nazis & Allies take over Europe, the Levant, North Africa, Iraq and Iran (& exert indirect control over the Balkan, Turkey and Greece) and are able to fortify their positions and threatening the Soviet Union (especially their Oil Fields and British India.
That is the position Hitler could have gained according to Bevin's Hypothesis. A strong position to really take over the world.
(Now that I think about this, Orwell might have alluded to this in 1984, because everyone could see that option.)

Now assuming the Japanese did a better job too and Hitler & Allies actually managed to take over Eurasia.

How would that look like?
>>
>>159421286

It's the march of history. That's why. On the contrawise, I think a lot of you are sort of fooling yourself into thinking the khanates and hordes were all mostly hippy dippy live and let live shit. It was not like that, at all.

And before you feel so sorry for the Central Asians, you should read up on how much misery and rape and death they visited upon the Rus. The Mongol invasion, and later it's descendant the miserable Golden Horde, and it's breakaway hordes that lorded over and terrorized the various Principalities for centuries, the people of the Rus never, ever forgot. You have to realize, for them, the takeover of Central Asia was very, very long, overdue revenge.

In Russian history, the dividing line of Old Rus history ends with the subjugation. It was the transition of the loci of Rus spiritual and cultural center from Kiev northwards to the cities of Moscow and Novgorod. The modern history of Russia (and not the Rus) begins with Ivan III's of Moscow's Great Stand on the River Urga, where the Rus forever ended their submission to the Horde. That's why he's Ivan the Great - he freed the Rus.

She also likes to vaguely keep the stories in historical context. The story only ends one way. She even mentioned in one of the recent chapters I saw a scan of, when the winter is coming, she says historically astute readers might know what's coming next. I don't get what you're quoting at me. You asked what would happen if Hitler one, and I'm going based off the most likely Nazi victory path, and their postwar plans in Generalplan Ost, and how it would relate to Central Asia.

There already were Basmachi veterans and seething anger left over from the Russian civil war still in Central Asia, and the worst of festering Islamic radicalism was staved off only because Stalin didn't give a shit about killing everyone, or deporting them wholesale to the gulag.

The aforementioned relocation I think is a reference to Stalin, where he outright uprooted whole groups and had them deported into the hinterland to deprive them of their traditional power base. It wasn't just Central Asian tribes - people in the Caucuses like Chechens, or the Crimean Tartars got wholesale deported. That said, of course it wasn't total, and there WERE a fair amount of genuine Communist Central Asians - look at the Russian Civil War. Generally, in many conflicts in that, especially secessionist, there was a Red Army force with a lot of locals.

And yes tribes got away with simple submission, obviously they weren't killed to a man. Never said that. You have to look at what submission entails though. Generally the same result as ones who resisted. And most of the tribes did resist. Also let it not be said that the Russians didn't play the subterfuge game with the best of them. There was no simply pledging loyalty to the Tsar and then going about your daily business forever. In pretty quick order, the tribes were settled down, goto school, and all that stuff. And when resistance did flare up at times, like the Basmachi, it was harshly put down (not that these rebellions were any better, many of them often being proto-Wahhabi or something else nutty).

And interesting aside on the earlier campaigns to the Pacific and Vladivostok, the eventual Central Asian campaign featured heavily in Russian literature and cinema roughly analogous to America's Westerns. You find the same themes and such. A cowboy wouldn't find themselves out of place in Central Asia here.

I do wonder what year it is. It'd be easy to know if we caught a glimpse of what is Afghanistan. The Great Game is obviously heating up behind the scenes, but both parties are at the starting gate.

It'd also be nice if she segued into Iran a bit. But then again maybe too civilized for Mori's taste.

As in real life, depends on the tribe. Most are Muslim, varyingly Sunni or Shia or something (a lot of Uzbeks would be Sufi, and yes, Tammerlane was a devout Sufi - don't let anyone tell you Sufis are all just peaceful dancers and stuff). A very few, like remnants of the Khitan, are still Buddhist, mostly Mahayana. Nestorian Christians on the decline but a few still around. Possibly some Zorastrians/Parsi, but very few by this time.

Generally, no one was really pure Tengri by this time.

>>159436956
Likely by some crazy pan-Turkish/Turanist nationalist. So no, likely not. These are the same people who say nearly all of Asia, including Korea, are Turks.

And just because tribes were not sedentary does not mean they did not have civilization - they just tended to carry all their shit with them. And as for conquering as much territory as he did, that's very simple. Terror and death from one hand, mercy and building from another. Also considering a large part of their territory was the steppes, "communication" mostly involved having reliable infrastructure like rest stops, specialized grazing grounds, and such for messenger horses.

>>159433196
Except no one said that. Look at around the beginning of the thread. I could say the same about Iranic peoples.

>the eventual Central Asian campaign featured heavily in Russian literature and cinema roughly analogous to America's Westerns
Does it have a genre name? (In cyrillic and translated?)
>>
>>159430213
Wrong. The reason it's not translated is because Allah relayed the Koran to Mohammed in Arabic, and thus, from that belief, the Koran cannot or should not be altered or even preached from a translation - it is Allah's LITERAL words, in their view. Arabic is the language Allah spoke in, thus it should never be uttered in another.

Also, that "mistranslation" is crap too because part of the whole eschatology of Mary is that Jesus' birth was miraculous BECAUSE she was a virgin, and that it was God who incarnated. That's part of the whole point.

>>159442623
Again, you sound like someone who hasn't actually even read the Bible, if even for study. The Holy Spirit is part and parcel of the eschatology of the whole Bible in the first place.

If this was all as you said, the Greek Orthodox Church would not believe in said things, but alas, they do. Generally, the people who were in the New Testament, were Assyrians, or would have spoke Aramaic. The people who eventually compiled the Bible would have wrote in the writing lingua franca of the time, Greek, and thus that's why the first Bibles were Greek. No matter how far back you go, to the various Councils, or the various churches that broke off like the Nestorians, etc, the virginal aspect of Mary was never, ever in doubt. Neither was the Holy Spirit. There were certainly big fights and debates, but these two were never in doubt.
>>
>>159443600
Red Westerns. Well, sort of - there's two of these. One is Soviet/Eastern Bloc copies and takes on the American Western genre (like Spaghetti Westerns). And another is ones that took place in Siberia/Central Asia/Far East, these are sometimes specifically known as Osterns (this, specifically, was often East German or other Warsaw Pact ones), Easterns or Borsch Westerns. These are the super famous ones like "White Sun of the Desert" and "At Home Among Strangers" being ones any older person in the former USSR will know.

If by altered you mean changed in meaning, you're right. As for preaching, it can be done in another language, so long as the translation does not differ from the original meaning. Not every Muslim knows Arabic, you know.
>Arabic is the language Allah spoke in, thus it should never be uttered in another.

That depends on you believing someone wrote the New Testament (books that were to become the New Testament) down in Aramaic first, doesn't it? I'm pretty sure the church fathers only had access to Greek versions of New Testament To Be books at the Council of Hippo, so technically the first collection of books to be called the Christian Bible were in Greek, I think.

Part of the gulag's expansion of the railway system, which is how a lot of those villages and cities actually got started - some people actually reached the end of their gulag sentence, or got slight reduction in return for founding new towns, or just had nowhere else to go or couldn't go (internal passports), and so settled where they were.

And to add to those Koreans, mainly the Koreans in the system were prisoners from the Soviet war declaration in the last days of WWII, as Stalin wanted to grab as much as he could before the chips fell. Both ethnically Korean Japanese civilians in the governing and administration infrastructure, and Kwangtung Army.

At least they fared better than the tens of thousands of Japanese Kwangtun veterans. Most of them never ever returned. If you still travel on the Far East Line, if you see Eastern architecture, it's a good sign there were Japs and Koreans who worked and died there.

It's not unusual for the Russian to have wanted to populate Central Asia. Extremely sparsely population region tend to have trouble, and of course less productive. Similar vein of thinking drove the disastrously wrong Virgin Lands Campaign - not just to increase production of food, but settle Central Asia more (and unsaid, but preferably with more Russians).

Anyways if you actually look at the expansion of the Russian empire from the 1700s to 1900 there is a very distinct line of settlements going eastward. Most Russian population centers moving eastward toward the Pacific were just south enough to be in livable climate but north enough to avoid direct confrontation with Central Asian tribes.

Stormblood renewed a lot of people's faith in Square Enix. The story and gameplay have never been as highly polished and tightly focused as it is now and I have been having more fun than even in 2.0, which is saying a lot, because 2.0 was a transcendental gameplay experience for me.

Especially at the beginning as you get back into it, make sure to really immerse yourself in it and play for multiple hours per sit down. XIV has always been a game that gives back as much as you put into it.

Since you'll be using the jumping potion, make sure to read all of the help text for your job abilities and then use those descriptions to determine how they should best be used together, but you have played before so you know this already.

Make absolute sure you keep playing until the end of the 4.0 main scenario story. It ranks up there as one of my favorite Final Fantasy games and I would have been satisfied with paying $60 for just the single-player main scenario alone.

Oh last thing, Side quests are actually real quests now, many even spanning 5+ quests with shorelines nearly as compelling as the main story. They really outdid themselves.

>I think a lot of you are sort of fooling yourself into thinking the khanates and hordes were all mostly hippy dippy live and let live shit

It's easy to romanticize anything once it stops being a real threat, just like the American attitude towards the natives that once terrorized the Western borders. And of course, it's not just the Russians the steppe nomads terrorized, either. I think people who've mainly grown up on Western European history are largely unaware just how influential steppe nomads have been, pretty much since the domestication of horses. There's a lot of meme-ing over the Mongols on the internet, but people familiar with the history of sedentary civilizations bordering the Eurasian steppe should know the Mongols were merely one, albeit highly successful, group of steppe nomads that continually posed an extreme threat, if not an existential one.

This related picture just shows how isolated the major population centres of Europe were from the Eurasian steppes compared with that of other regions, which I think helps explain why steppe nomads hardly get any attention in public education of history in Western schools. I personally think the 18th~19th centuries were monumental in world history not just because of the enlightenment or industrialization, but just how quickly and permanently the steppe nomads were reduced from a major actor in world history to basically a non-entity.

Also, that's only western Europe. Italians had to fight for every inch of the Med, and it was Poland and the Germanies that finally stopped the goddamn Ottos at Vienna.

Basically, it started with what's called Serbo-Croats today. The Serb-Croat split is literally only that Croats followed the Catholic church, wrote in the Latin script, and had eventually cultural influence from Catholic lands, whereas Serbs followed the Orthodox church, and eventually tied in with the Orthodox world. But they're literally the same people, even now they speak the same goddamn language.

Bosnians are basically Serbs who embraced the Bogomil heresy very deeply, and hence were oppressed by the Serbs. Eventually the Ottos rolled through, and Otto sources say the Bosnians converted out of gratitude. I'll leave you to wonder how reliable that is. But essentially Bosnians are Serbs. It's sort of like how they say Montenegrins are Serbs. I mean yes they are, but they are slightly different.

The Balkans is a mess. But suffice to say, South Slavs are fucking retarded.

>do you pick prosperous future, now in freedom too?
>or do you blow up the entire country over tiny differences?

Murdering a head of state on your Territory is always a good plan.

Fun fact: He planned reforms to give them more Autonomy.

At least he survived.

The simple man being swept up is most likely going to end up dead, like all those other dead people that can't complain anymore about things not working out for them.

Why does living as a mounted archer, seeking glory in the Steppes of Central Asia, seem so much more appealing than modern life?

Doesn't seem to different to the situation of arabs in the Middle East or spics in Latin America. In short, tribalism is one hell of a drug.

Pariya is such a nice girl, so committed to her fiance's happiness that she would go waterwheel-watching with him

Pariya is a hot-headed moron who can't control her temper. She's a bitch.
>>
So with Magi, Arslan, and Altair having their anime I'm more and more confident that Otoyomegatari will get one too.

only real dilemma will be whether the anime will do it justice

>>159479581
>>159479696
Pariya is moe as fuck
>>
>>159479696
She's not a bitch at all. She just wants to fit in, and make the people around her happy, but she lacks the social skills to do so. She's a nice girl.

If it does get done, who should animate the series?

If eyebrows are a good indicator of pube thickness, how thick Pariya's pubes must be?
