Why the fuck does he still sit like that? They're obviously changing the character enough so that he in no way reflects the source material. Least they could do was make him not sit like a dumbass
>They make Light become white
>Nobody say anything
>Make L black
>FUCK THIS FORCED DIVERSITY HIS CHARACTER IS RUINED!!!
>They make Light become white
>Nobody say anything
under which stone where you living till today? was it comfy at least?
It's probably because the actor for L had a part in a show called Atlanta (directed by Donald Glover iirc) and his character was extremely weird and erratic, I guess someone on the team must have seen that show and thought that he'd fit for L.
I'm honestly more annoyed with Light's change, he just looks like a school shooter, I'd rather have Zach Effron play light than this guy.
This is what cultural appropriation feels like.
It's terrible isn't it. Next time think of that every time you read a manga you haven't paid for.
>It's probably because the actor for L had a part in a show called Atlanta (directed by Donald Glover iirc) and his character was extremely weird and erratic, I guess someone on the team must have seen that show and thought that he'd fit for L.
This. His character on Atlanta was hyper eccentric while being incredibly wise and smart.
>implying Light doesn't look pretty much white anyway
>implying Light becoming a white guy is even close to the level of change of a pasty fuck like L becoming a black guy is
L became N and Light became Lanza, what garbage.
This is what they've done with the live Action
>completely different appearance
>actor can pull off the character
>somewhat different appearance
>completely different character
Us humans are always close to destruction, Life itself is but a series of close calls. I mean, how would you know you were alive unless you knew you could die?
Why is light white?
If you're hung up on this you should probably grow up. They made the story take place in america. So any race change is fair game at this point.
If this was still in japan then it would certainly be weird.
You're right he was also clever, and a semi-NEET.
Although they're probably gettin rid of that last one to some extent I think he'll be handled closer to the source material than light.
yeah Zach woulda been 10/10 casting
Realism would be Asian guy being L especially in a city like Seattle or west coast in general. Asians outnumber Blacks in large west coast cities. Not only in pure numbers, but also in intellect side. SAT results have been known for long time.
L's blackness or lack of it doesn't really matter much, whether or not they fuck up his characterization is the important part.
On a related note, I thought it was weird that he wears the scarf over his face, since the point in the series kinda was that Kira seeing his face doesn't really matter since he doesn't know L's name.
>take the palest human in the anime
>make him black
Light's characterization is fucked up. He's now a teen emo kid whos been bullied a lot. He's also got a cheerleader gf whom he talks alot about death note with. Also he's regretful of his actions.
L's characterization is that of a brash loud young nigga.
Atleast according to the trailer. So yea, not much hope there.
Light should have been Asian and L white. And that's just the casting; everything else looks like shit too.
I don't care about representation, but I won't miss the chance to name the Jew. Interesting how diversity is just code for black.
Fucking this. All this asshurt over a black L. I mean look at Misa.
She was a girl who always dressed as a popstar even in normal society, but here she just looks like any other girl.
What I don't get is why was this even made?
Death Note was famous in the mid-2000s because it had one of the few good live-action adaptions to an anime.
I mean if they think they can get it to work with non-Japanese actors(which from the trailer I highly doubt it) then fine, but what's even the point when there's literally nothing wrong with the original?
>watch the trailer
>Light: are we really doing the right thing?
JESUS FUCKING CHRIST
that's like Sherlock saying "I wish I was wrong"
so out of character.
>le ebin jew conspiracy
Both Ls might still retain their core characteristics despite a few liberties Jewlywood took with the characters and setting. Not sure if the majority of /a/ are really that shallow or just the summer crew who lack critical thinking skills and parrot the opinions of others to 'fit' in.
For example, , , >>159274552 and this one nigger talking about realism >>159274020.
White bois on suicide watch.
Fucking this. Light acts LITERALLY NOTHING like his counterpart.
What made Death Note so good is because Light wasn't some edgelord teenager who was juggling with the concept of good and evil, but a College Student with a MASSIVE resolve and a God complex.
Yet people rather complain about a 5 second clips of a black L.
It's about the agenda, certain sections of American society are so wrapped up with their sides agenda that they cannot think of anything else or think on their own.
Hollywood is one of those sections if they make anything they have to put in their ideal social engineering subject characters are changed to black,Asian, gay, lesbian, transsexual,Native American et cetera and whites are always taught the wrongs of their ways and made the scapegoats, idiots to be laughed at and so on.
Why I don't watch much anymore,in fact I'm thinking of giving up movies altogether after I watch the new Bladerunner this fall, anime is way more interesting if you know where to look.
The question is: has nobody noticed that making a nigga sit like this is outright weird as fuck?
I can imagine a white dude doing this pose, I can imagine a chink doing it too, but a nigga, nope, no way.
>He's also got a cheerleader gf
Now prom is probably going to be a plot point too
The movie was a re-imagining. In context of US and west coast specifically.
It makes sense for L to be white and the major cast members to be white. L being a minority also makes sense in vacuum. If Asians didn't exist. The fact that Asians are the second most common minority in west coast/seattle. Therefore if you follow the rational, a minority to play L would have been an Asian. So the anomaly isn't the white recasting but rather the black recasting of L.
It's more or less an attempt to at least make your character look like the represented fictional fag in question.
Why do you think fags shill Zac Efron to play light? Yeah he's white but he atleast looks like he can play the whole perfect man role well.
Getting a ton of japs to play in a western movie would be likely tough, so it was easier to just cast a bunch of people within the domestic audience which they are trying to appeal to, so white people in a western film isn't really surprising. The jarring stuff with L is just that it's a complete 180 on his design, same with Light in characterization. It just shows that they didn't even give a fuck and hoped it would go over well on name alone. The whole white thing with the mc is also strange, because i've never met a home grown jew in my life that considers himself white, especially the women.
I tend to ignore it,anime to be fair has it's annoying sections as well i.e. a lot of the really popular ones are garbage that has that "annoying westerner" fanbase stuff like Naruto and Bleach.
But you dig around and there's the ones that are so Japanese that no one touches it,generally that's what I like.
>source material intended Light and L to look like opposites, where Light looked like a handsome sheltered genius and L looked like a ragged ugly person
>Netflix follows tradition and makes Light white and L black
Dude what if like, you know, L is Light's alterego? You know when he starts doubting himself morally, what if L was created from Light's alter ego.
You know, Light/White vs Dark/Black, but instead of White/Light being good, its the opposite. What if, like, its all like, his own delusion, man.
