This is my Jojosona. I call him "Giorno". He's kind of like a Jojo but he's italian so he's named "Gio Gio" and he's actually Dio's son which is super cool. He has the power to give life to things and control them but if you touch the things he brings to life you get hurt and also if he touches you time slows down and you get hurt even more and also he can heal anybody who gets hurt (even himself) and also everybody likes him and he's really smart so he's always the first one to figure out mysteries and stuff. Also he is so unique that the stand arrow itself chose him to power up his stand and when his stand powers up it's like super invincible and you can't hurt it and it's the strongest stand in the whole show. He can negate any action you try to do and if he touches you you like die over and over forever he's so strong.

Yasuho will die from the treeman which is going to send Gappy into a Heroic B.S.O.D. where he will then lash out at the beanman but doesn't kill him because he needs him for the branch. Gappy finds the branch and Jobin confronts him but Josuke is now hardened and cold so he attacks beetleman despite Tsurugi's pleading. Josuke wins yet sustains some injuries because Speed King's true power messed him up so he kills Jobin but the rock disease has already taken Tsurugi's life so he uses the Rokakaka to fuse Tsurugi and Yasuho (cleverly foreshadowed with Tsurugi's strange and intense attraction to Yasuho). Gappy also finds the second branch which he uses to save his mother. [PART 8 END]

I'm not them, but I don't think most of them do. Stands are referred to as 'it' rather than 'he or she'. Surface appears to take on the gender and rough personality of whatever it turns into, but is otherwise a blank slate. And with things like Whitesnake, it takes stands from their original users and gives them to new ones, so there doesn't appear to be a male only/female only rule for most of them.

Josefumi, Araki just does English names funny. It's a mix between 'Joseph' and 'Umi' which the Japanese word for sea. Man of the sea etc. We still don't know anything about his heritage but he's undoubtedly related to Joseph given his name and one of the characters he's semi based on.

Best written JoJo: Johnny, he's had the most intricate character arc and it paid off pretty well, he's not my favourite but he's definitely done well
Best written villain: tie between Valentine and Pucci, they're similar but do certain things better and worse than each other, it comes down to taste really
Worst written JoJo: Jonathan, his arc is pretty simple and by-the-books but it gets the job done, there just isn't much to him after a point
Worst written villain: Part 1 DIO, the subtext about him being evil perhaps not by choice but by circumstance is pretty undeveloped and goes nowhere and he's just a cunt for no reason for the most part

I don't think any of them are bad, but Araki's writing really does get better and better the more he does it.

I always find it hard to put PB in the worst categories. I think it works in itself and I don't think Araki has ever quite got a relationship like Johnathan/Dio ever again and it's a story very much a child of it's time. I would say minus his involvement in other parts, Joseph comes off worse because he doesn't have that much connection like Johnathan did, not did he ever really feel like he suffered in comparison.

His Part 3 self only works for me because of how different he is to his older self, 96 years on timeout has chilled him out a bit and, despite being a cunt still, he's a lot more introspective and we see a different side of him, which is expanded even more in Part 6. He definitely needed to do more in 3 though, he just doesn't feel as present as in 1, though to be fair Part 1 is like less than s third the length of 3. Different strokes I guess.

But then I see it like the Jotaro issue. If you are going to say which is the best written Jojo, do you take it as their time as the jojo of the part or over the series. Because for me at least, Dio and Jotaro both go further up if you include Parts 4/6
I feel then a little sorry for Josuke who Araki intentionally wanted to keep eternal and confined to part 4.

There was one part in this fifth series I absolutely had to delete though. An episode I couldn't write at all. In my head, the story went that between Mista, Narancia, Fugo and Abbacchio, there would be a spy working for the boss and betray Giorno and Bucciarati. At first I had decided this traitor to be Fugo, but I couldn't do it.

My state of mind was so dark that the stories I wrote were becoming more and more evil, but in my heart I was starting to hate this behavior as time passed. Also, my heart broke just thinking about how Bucciarati would feel.

I absolutely can't understand betrayal from a trusted friend and this is why just thinking about it physically hurt me. I would have accepted any criticism saying that I "hadn't had the guts to do it" as an author, but I assure you I couldn't write that episode no matter what.

Maybe Giorno would have had to kill Fugo then and I'm sure this would have given a really bad impression to my youngest readers.

Absolutely not. Jonathan's character and his writing are simple, but fine. He's meant to be an ideal, more of a representation of humanities redeeming traits than a singular person, and has the single most intimate bond with the main villain of his part out of all the JoJos, him and Dio being on opposite ends of the spectrum, and living and (sort of) dying together. He doesn't even make an appearance in Sleeping Slaves, which explored the themes of fate of the part.

I really don't feel like picking up a discussion right now. Maybe I'll expand on it later.
Jonathan worked fine in his part, but other than that, he falls completely flat. The only thing that's well written about him is his relationship with Dio and while character interactions are an important factor in writing a good character it shoudn't be entirely dependant on that alone. Well written character is a bit more than just simple. Simplistic in their mindset? Sure. Simple? No, that's almost an opposite of well developed character.

Giorno is pretty consiststant as a character. He was abused as a child so he learned to be quiet yet the got help so he and acceptance so he isn't insecure. His mischief was something that he could do in his city, but not in the life threatening gang mission. I think people were expecting a second Joseph or something but from Giorno's backstory they should've gathered enough about him to get his character (yet it still happens). I don't think I need to emphasize his connection to both Dio and Jonathan since it's a pretty common discussion point. Giorno fading into the background isn't really an argument it since it was a thing since part 3 and I don't know why people only criticize Giorno for it or how it even relaties to Giorno being badly written. Giorno showed his determination, accepted his fate and got rewarded for it. Ultimately it doesn't matter who gets to live on because their objective was achieved an Bruno even said that he finally felt happiness. I'm sure Giorno wouldn't mind dying for the cause that he said he'd sacrifice everything for.

Just finished reading part 6 and damn, my favourite one
so far. Final battle was incredibly good, the stand interactions were really well done and everyone felt relevant.
The only thing that i didnt understand was what actually happened after pucci's death. So he accelerated towards a new universe, but it didnt actually pull through since he died. But why did a new alternative one arise? Shouldnt it revert back to the universe where the joestars were dead?

What I can add it that he functions as Jotaro where he doesn't give too much away so when he reacts to something it really hits harder.. He takes on a role that Dio took in SC. A charismatic leader that enlightens his comrades. His parallels between both Jonathan and Dio is really his main selling point, at least to me. It's really up to taste. If you don't like quiet characters you won't like Giorno and that's fine. I'm not a huge fan of some fan favourites like Hol Horse and Koichi. It's just preferences
