i don't remember the soundtrack for it being anything special, but the direction and art design really aren't that good. there are times when everything is executed perfectly, but most of the time the show is just stale. the first 20ish episodes especially are just shit. i also remember it making use of a lot of limited animation whenever it could. in the end, i couldn't even get through 40 episodes because it was so fucking boring, and this is coming from someone who loves the manga.
the first 3 Gintama seasons overall are better in pretty much every way (the ones afterward by BNP are terrible), and i remember Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood being infinitely closer to "the best production quality in shounen anime" than HunterxHunter.

i don't see what's praiseworthy about a "faithful adaptation", if anything that sounds like an insult. nonetheless, i don't think HxH is terrible, i just don't think it's worthy of praise such as "one of the best animated series of all time" because it really isn't.

i was a bit annoyed at how easily OP said that BnHA was on par with the quality of HxH or any other series in this thread, so i definitely exaggerated. however, i'd still say it's by far the worst series in this thread yet, because while all series waste time with what is essentially still frames, BnHA does it much, much more. i'd guess that the good animation that is in BnHA takes up at most 5% of the series, and almost all of the rest is barely animation.
