Tanjiro's scar did change though, the one he had in the first issue was a different color and shape and it changed when he fought the hand demon and got his forehead smashed into a tree, that's the scar he's had since then

You'd think some of the other pillars would've recognized it and pointed it out. Like even if the head of the Demon Hunters is blind you'd think some of his attendants would've been like "hey, that kid has those earrings like the guy who could use the Breath of the Sun".
I wonder what kind of note this series will end on if it's allowed to go through its whole run unabated. This is the Taisho period so it's like straight up suffering for Japan within a decade or two. Tanjirou and co. will live to see Japan get nuked if they all survive this story.

Oyakata knew more than he let on, did you miss the whole Tamayo bit...he knew about the earrings, he's the one who approved Tanjiro right from the start, that meeting was just him showing the Pillars Tanjiro was alright
The earrings cannot be a plothole unless we find out their origins were much more recent because so far everyone from a previous generation has had some knowledge about him that they've never fully revealed

You should've posted this a year ago when the series had a rocky start, dwelling in the bottom ranking, now for the past several months it became one of WSJ's most popular series and convinced the editorial staff to officially shill it on covers, bookstories and tv shows, an anime will happen sooner or later.

That seems reasonable, for all we know, something horrible happened to the previous generation of Pillars that was fairly traumatic (which could explain stuff like Tanjiro's father being bedridden, Oyakata being blind, Rengoku's father being depressed, Sakonji being reclusive, etc.)
Like Urokodaki never wanted Tanjiro to actually join the organization and gave him that training intending for him to fail, so it would totally make sense he wouldn't tell him things he probably doesn't want Tanjiro to worry about
Plus, I highly doubt it's normal for the Pillars to all be teenagers, unless they get killed that often, but as we see now, a lot of them are just retired so I would think something happened that there's no adult Pillars right now (unless some of them are a lot older than they look)

What's wrong with it? He was never properly taught it (he only remembered a part of it in a flashback when he was about to die) and so far he's had to work just as hard if not harder than everyone else. It's only annoying if it turns out he never had to work at all and could have just been the best from the beginning.

As for the pillars, they're constantly in life or death battles, and are always at risk of dying at the hands of one of the upper moons. It's probably not a job that anyone lasts in for very long.

I do like that theory, but I guess the reason it seems like his father should be important is why else did Muzan pick that generation to kill his family. If it was centuries ago, he could have done it then. Clearly his father would have done something notorious and this brought Muzan's attention to hunting down the family.

If I had to guess, Tanjirou's dad was never a demon hunter but may have originally been connected with Muzan personally.
Maybe the usual- Tanjirou Sr. and Muzan are swordsmen or martial artists and Muzan has the same issue as that Upper Moon we saw; you get old and die and that sucks. The ability to become a demon comes along (either the real bigbad, or some artifact or something), Muzan takes the path of immortality, Tanjirou's dad refuses and Muzan is really close to him in some way and is infuriated by the decision or ends up nearly being struck down by Tanjirou Sr.

Muzan's rage does seem very fresh though, like he went out of his way to kill completely helpless children and is now sending his top servants directly out to kill one boy...if you think he's just interested in killing all descendants of this family, surely there's a bunch of them all over the place, it seems more specifically focused on Tanjiro's father's family (I mean he had like six kids, so he could very well have been one of six and so forth, if you think of that over centuries, the family could be spread out)
I'm sure there's something like the techniques only being passed down to the eldest son or something but then the point still is that his grudge seemed to be honed in on the previous generation and not just all descendants ever of the original guy, and it seems far TOO coincidental that the generation where they get wiped out is the one where the father gets very weak and dies too young

In any case, Tanjirou wearing the earrings means he's inherited the breath of the sun, which is why Muzan is dead-set on killing him. Seems like a combination of a very old vendetta and a recognition that he's a legitimate threat to the demons.

Fair enough, I forgot the flashback looked nothing like what his father turned out to look like...but it was stated by Sakonji that Muzan directly killed Tanjiro's family so that had nothing to do with the earrings
I'm genuinely excited for the reveals either way, but I just doubt his dad is just a total nobody, I've enjoyed having a conversation though so thank you for that but now I have to go to bed before I pass out
