The mass production-type fighting clothes that the 32 people of Mebuki's investigation squad were given. It's an extremely versatile system that can be worn by non-heroes but doesn't come with fairies. I'm not the guy who's ever translated the novels, but I'm attempting to actually read it which is a first for me with novels, I'll attempt to translate it as I go. I'm really slow though, since I can barely read above N4 level kanji without OCR.

Great first chapter. Is it next month yet?
Here's a brief summary for the impatient while anon is working on his TL.

Chapter starts with Mebuki and the others mid-combat with stardust, their shield wall formation broken because one of them couldn't withstand the incoming attacks; the stardust then pull one of the sticking guns out and flings another Sentinel away, as they start swarming to devour her Mebuki jumps in to save the day.
Then we cut to introductions, Mebuki's father is a stern and diligent man, his work as a carpenter is his entire life but it ultimately caused his wife to leave him, Mebuki always looked up to her father and aspired to be like him but he never paid much attention to her.
The day Taisha came to their house to tell her of the duty she has been chosen to do was the first time he complimented her.
About 20 or so were assembled at a facility for training and studying, and were told only one would be picked; they were given a vague explanation of what a Yuusha is, someone who protects the nation and mankind when a danger too delicate for the rest to handle shows up. The vertex were never mentioned.
Cut to a year later, half the candidates dropped out. Mebuki is super hardcore, dedicating her every waking moment to training; not even resting when sick. This is where Karin is introduced as someone who was also good which made Mebuki take notice of her.
She didn't like how she spent a lot of her time helping others and teaching them during training. Mebuki even went and told her that she would never beat her at that rate; Karin went full tsun as you might expect and denied the fact that she liked helping others, saying that it was all for the sake of her own training then stormed off, shortly after she came back and gave Mebuki SAPURI for her muscle aches that she somehow noticed simply by watching her training.

It means that as long as you're alive,
something good can still happen, but when you're dead nothing will. It's a positive saying, despite how it sounds. It means you should persist no matter the hardships.

Another year passes, and only 5 remained,
including Mebuki and Karin, by then everyone knew it was between the two of them. Mebuki was convinced she would be chosen because she was slightly ahead in grades. The final examination method was never disclosed,
so Mebuki assumed it would be based on their daily routines, she knew that at the rate things were going she would be the one for sure.
A month later she was called by one of their supervisors, and given the news. Mebuki was baffled and kept asking for an explanation but the lady told her the decision was final. wouldn't accept it and almost attacked her,
she had to be drugged and taken away.
Those who failed were sent back home,
Mebuki transferred to a local school but couldn't fit in. She had no idea how to live a normal life anymore since her past two years had been nothing but training. By this point she's a hot ball of anger and rage, regretting everything she's done so far, having difficulty sleeping because she kept recalling the moment she was turned down.
Month pass and another Taisha envoy comes and tells her that her strength is needed once more. This time she was taken to the Golden tower, where all of the candidates from the training facility as well as new girls were.
They were revealed to be both part of two groups, those who were gauged for their aptitude and weren't picked and those who were being trained to take over for the Yuusha that "retired"

They were then given the full explanation for what things actually are, and started their training. Mebuki was way ahead of everyone else and ended up as the leader of the Sentinels. given the number 1. 2 to 8 were exceptionally talented candidates and were chosen to be commanders.
We're then introduced to the rest of the cast,
Yumiko the shitter oujou-sama, Suzume the insecure one and Suzume the quiet mega autist. They were all drawn to Mebuki for different reasons.
Cut to the first deployment, the sentinels were asked to bring samples of earth and lava from outside the wall, but were attacked by Stardust. Mebuki seeing their formation broken gave orders for the commanders to defend the shield wall while the rest gathered resources while Mebuki fought off any incoming Stardust.
As she was about to be attacked from behind,
Yumeko saved her and gave her the usual ojou-sama talk saying how she was not fit for such menial tasks and the such; Suzume also joined them while yelling how Mebuki wouldn't be able to protect her if she were dead.
Shizuku was focused on gathering and even took flasks from those injured or too scared to move and gathered for their share as well.
Mebuki is megamad that they're being treated as failures still and swore that she'd prove herself and eventually get promoted to be a Yuusha. She brought everyone back safe and completed her first mission. But anger is still the only thing driving her.
This is not a story about flowers blooming in grace, but that of a bunch of weeds who were unseen, stepped upon and ignored as they desperately struggled to live. A story about those who were not, but became Yuusha
