I thought it was comfy. I can appreciate a show that can even make comfy fanservice episodes. I really liked the old school JRPG vibes throughout the series. It was nothing fancy, but it was good. Sometimes you don't need the flashiest, coolest, most innovative plot/characters ever. You just need something good.

Because the last episode was 100x more fun than the rest of the season's main arc. What makes it leagues above the rest were the interactions between the cast that makes it far more lively and human. The scene where the girls were all choosing a swim suit for Djeeta was basically a scene of girls ACTING LIKE GIRLS.

This speaks of the potential they had in creating a decent anime about cute girls doing cute things on a fantasy adventure or just straying from the main storyline in general. Djeeta being the MC also leads to more interactivity than Gran which allows her to better serve as an MC than Gran.

The reason why I brought up the swimsuit changing scene was because the girls acted more reminiscent of girls you'd find in real life. They were being real people for a moment. I never got that impression from any scene previously in the show. And another anon mentioned that Io interacted with Djeeta far more than she normally would with Gran. That's why I would prefer if Djeeta was the MC over Gran.

And I also wouldn't particularly prefer for a "cute girls doing cute things" show if they pitched it to me but this episode convinced me that they'd pull it off in a high fantasy adventure show and it'd be more enjoyable to me than what we have now, which is why I said what I said. If they did a show with scenarios like the episode my webm is from, the slam dunk on the sandman episode, I would have been satisfied with that as well.

Really, I'm just throwing around some thoughts while being disgruntled with the fact that I enjoyed a fanservice episode of all things much more than the main arc. But thank you for the non condescending response.

Honestly speaking, if this show would have more episodes, like 24, we could have a situation where between the main story arcs, episodes like the one you mentioned would have been scattered, presenting more opportunity to build up more interaction for the team while also allowing to have screentime for popular characters. With only 13 episodes, there wasn't really a good option to keep both sides content. I can see why people enjoyed the last episode - especially people who have their favorites shown - but for me it felt somewhat rushed and ill-fitting.

So the reason Djeeta wasn't selected as the main character is because she's overpowered and has her charisma stat maxed out for recruiting a huge amount of characters.

The best way to do the anime would be to make Gran the MC and have Djeeta be a twin/childhood friend on the ride. Then they go around and either act out the Granblues shorts or at least have characters from the game cameo more than just cramming them all in the last episode.
