I like that we're finally getting some answers, but I'm conflicted about these flashbacks happening in quick succession. Would be nice to see the actual story progress as well. From our perspective and the perspective of many characters it would be very serious. For the characters it means that the Eli who knew them just died and noone knows what future awaits this one new Eli. For the readers, it means that whole chapters dedicated to Eli's development were essentially meaningless, and any victory over the curse won't be the achievement of "our old" Eli.

And even then, right now you are just supposed to feel bad about their situation and thrilled about the incoming revelation.
