They should have stuck to the formula of the OVAs,whoever decided to add Andrew and Frank needs fired, if not executed.
I've loved every episode aside from the ones where they appear, and the episodes they were in would have been good if they weren't in it.
Trigger honestly deserves to go bankrupt for this shit, I went in expecting a TV version of the OVAs, instead I get shoehorned faggy boys and shoehorned romance and shit plot and shit writing.
Now look, it's over and it is the consensus that LWA TV is a huge disappointment,probably disappointment of the decade and a lot more people agree with me, and the ones that "don't" agree with me actually do, they are just so disappointed that they don't want to act like they are to make themselves feel better.
The hamfisting characters or romance into an episode really takes away from the enjoyable parts, but the lackluster resolution of episode 5 doesn't take away from the good parts.
Trigger should care because this is their second fluke in a row, Kiznaiver was even worse. If they keep being so unsuccessful they are going to have a hard time finding any investors. I'm surprised they were able to find any anyways, that faggot Tattun said Trigger wasn't on the production committee so they don't see any of the profits, which means it doesn't matter to Trigger whether the show does well or not because it doesn't affect them, which means they can just fuck up the show like they tried to in all the episodes with Andrew in it.

I'm reading though the threads, looking at all the "11/10" posts, while being unsatisfied by the ending myself. Pic perfectly describes my feelings after watching the ending.

Ripped page? Insignificant. Burning town? Didn't happen. Fountain of Polaris? Irrelevant. The elusive last word? Something random. Grand Triskelion? It's power of friendship (and it's not even "tri-" in any way). Yggdrasil withering? No reason. Ultimate ancient magic? It makes the grass greener. Military tension? Didn't matter. Ultimate evil? Oneshot with Shiny Arc.

Also, I'm going to repeat myself here, but why the hell did Chariot fail her quest? Why was she denied the last word? That was the biggest mystery of the series and it was completely brushed over in the end. What did she do wrong? The entire 7 words quest was a total mess.

And I would be okay with the whole "it's all about friendship and believing heart" ending if Akko's friends got more focus. Instead, they all just... tagged along. Meh.
At least we got some good animation, I guess. Still, it wasn't really that exciting to hear the damn Shiny Arc incantation for the 10th (or so) time in the series. Seriously, this ought to stop. It's not even a cool spell.

This would have been all fine and dandy, and in fact it's something I wanted to see explored, but that's my main gripe with the show. It didn't touch upon that at all. They only went with the "oh society doesn't need magic we're so advanced" route yet did nothing to back up why that is. I'd argue the show could have been more interesting if it focused on trying to make magic adapt to everyday needs and getting people to trust magic instead of going all in on the stupid Croix crap and "my technology > your magic" plot.

It's in-line with the message they wanted to show so makes sense they'd do it together. Chariot tried to do the whole thing alone after Croix left, failed and broke down with the culmination of her breakdown being the moment she fired the arrow shot to the moon. Croix couldn't accept she wasn't the chosen one and instead of accepting her limitations and helping Chariot for real, she tried to do it herself and failed. Akko and Diana did the opposite and their culmination was firing the shot together which saved the world.

Do you need a special talent to use magic? Because if anyone can learn to use magic, the world would be quite different. But if a small group can use magic is possible, it makes sense for most of the population to create alternatives to magic.

This is one part I found funny. The biggest difference between Chariot and Akko was how their friend acted. Chariot and Akko were both magic fuck-ups for different reasons. Chariot and Akko both wanted to bring smiles with their magic. They both break down at certain times too.

The difference is that when Chariot was breaking down, Croix handled it in the worst way possible and broke Chariot's already fragile self-esteem because of jealousy. When Akko broke down, Diana had already accepted her weaknesses, that she wasn't the chosen one and said the words Akko needed exactly. When Croix said "a believing heart is your magic" to Chariot, she didn't really mean it as opposed to when Diana said it.

As to why I found it weird, it seems like it's no fault of Chariot that she really failed if we look at it this way. The circumstances were just against her. Although if we stretch it, Akko went out of her way to befriend people so having better friends is something she accomplished by her own volition. Compare this to Chariot who seems more dependent on Croix.

Watching Diana push every other character out of the show after we spend countless episodes building up Akko's bond with her friends feels like swallowing steel wool. The fact that everyone else is only there at the end to LITERALLY push Diana and Akko forward is just adding insult to injury.
