Miura is well known for being very anal about assistants and not letting them do major panels. The real advantage of digital over pen and paper is simply in dealing with mistakes. Miura does some gorgeous art, but a single fuck up in the final stages of those panels literally costs WEEKS of work.
For comparison, Hamada Yoshikazu (Tsugumomo author) regularly streams his work. He's a digital native, he never did his panels by hand to my knowledge, and he uses various 3d modeling tools to help in getting geometry right. When he does his large spreads, which are very nearly comparable to what Miura did on paper, it often takes him 20-30 hours for a single spread, as a pro who has been using digital his entire life. That's nearly a week's work in a full time job, and that's FASTER than doing it on paper. Consider what a bit of blotted ink, a spill, or just a mistake in perspective must mean with art as detailed as what Miura does means when you're dealing with paper.

It's a radical change, he's got to learn new ways of doing shading and line art. Plus, he's an older man dealing with very new technology and software. Art done on paper isn't backlit the way a computer screen is, and paper has a resistance against your pen or brush that a plastic screen doesn't. You can use a single pen for different thicknesses of line art on paper just by adjusting your pressure, whereas a screen will require you to use multiple different tools, etc.

All things considered, I think he's doing fairly well. He actually hasn't had that much trouble with his detailed panels, the panels that look off the most are the smaller, dialogue focused ones where he clearly isn't able to do the same line art as he'd do on paper.
