Also, I used to like Kanon way more than Clannad before growing past everything Key related.
I think Kanon's character arcs are in general better than Clannad's, although I think Clannad is better in terms of adaptation (even considering just the first season). My problem with Kanon is that since Yuuichi's amnesia is a plot point in most routes, the way he forgets almost everything about his childhood ends up too unnatural and forced in the anime.

Here's the thing, Kanon is indeed better written than Clannad by at least a few hundred lightyears.

Though both in general are like having aids, though Clannad leans on having the black plague extended for a period of 100 years of pain.
