Despite the memes I say it's worth reading up chapter 656(not gonna say what happens just in case OP hasn't read it) because that's literally when Kishi stops giving any fucks. It's fun series with it's ups and downs. When it's good, it's really fucking good. When it's bad, it's shit.

Part 1 is actually pretty damn great and despite all the memes still holds up today. Akatsuki arc is okay with some notable highs and lows. Everything after ranges from laughably bad to just bad.
