Japs make animu.
CR buys the license - Japs get the money.
If people aren't paying CR anything, then they won't find it profitable to buy licenses - Japs don't get money, so in the end Japs might find making anime not so profitable.

Now, do Japs get any cut from KF bought on Steam? I don't know.
>>
>>158782721
Well yeah, but still, 12 euros for the whole thing? I mean I'd get it, but I don't want to get a pop up later on saying "my rental for this show is over" or something.
>>
>>158782833
Why would you get it? Don't you have torrent?
>>
I don't understand steam selling anime at all anyway
also I can't view it in japan ww
>>
>>158782801
So the license is a one-time payment? And then they get all the profits from everyone outside Japan?
>>
>Sugoi won't show up unless other things have it too
>go to tag K-On
>notice it already has Psychological Horror
>>
>>158782875
We literally don't know, since nobody revealed the details of their agreement.
It could be a one-time fee, it could be a fee based on viewers, it could be a shitton of options.
But one thing for sure, CR has to pay the creators somehow.
>>
>>158782871
Principle, I don't even know. If it ain't a rental though, 4 euros even my poorfag NEET self can spare. If it was BBK I would've bought it instantly without even considering the possibility of a "rental" option. But that's just me.
>>
>>158782875
Likely. Usually companies like CR would try to buy up the international rights. They would give them a one-time payment and then solely profit from international-related sales.
>>
>>158782874
Steam started selling movies and other shit a few years ago so adding anime was inevitable given the huge amount of weeaboos who use it.
>>

How long do I have to watch a video rental on Steam?
Steam Video rentals give you a certain number of days to begin watching the video and then a certain number of hours to finish watching the video. That information can be found in the following places:
On the Steam Store within the rental package section, e.g. Watch this 48-hour rental any time in the next 30 days.
After renting a movie on Steam, the remaining time is shown in the Steam Library for the rented video.
Note: After the rental time has expired, the video will remain in your Library for up to 48 hours but will not be playable without purchasing a new rental period.

It's just crunchy roll, but instead you pay for each anime one at a time. It is permanent though.

The bus is probably a hybrid vehicle that uses a diesel engine along with a supplemental battery motor. It has a prime mover tractor and the carriage for passengers. the engine noise the bus makes is from a diesel engine. Thing is, diesel engines do not use a spark, so it would not need a battery to run, only to start so one charge on the battery could go a long, long way. Thing is, at the end where they're on the ocean, the tractor putters out, probably because it ran out of fuel, not due to the battery going out. But Kaban wouldn't know better

No. One could argue that more money to buy licenses = more money to the studios to spend on making anime but in this context it's general, so the overwhelming amount of the money you give them goes towards more garbage like Boruto and AoT, not for more of the specific thing you spent it on. Do not do it.

>Supporting Crunchyroll in the case of Kemono Friends is just about as directly supporting it as buying a BD or CD
Just because CR is listed on the production committee doesn't mean it will funnel subscription money back to the actual creators or something. Just look at some of the companies listed as part of the committee; it doesn't really mean that much.
>>
>>158790756
Nothing to do with "shilling".

>>158790804
I didn't say anything about "funnel subscription money back to the actual creators". I said you are supporting it about as directly as buying a CD or BD. Do you think buying a CD or BD "funnels money back to the actual creators" because it doesn't. It merely encourages the companies funding it who selling those things that investing in a second season is a good idea. Likewise if Kemono Friends is popular for CR funding more of it seems like a good idea.
>>
>>158790576
They're proud creatures and prefer to hunt alone.
>>
>>158790941
When I said "the creators" I was including the production companies who actually provided the majority of the funding of the show and played a large part in its creation.

If we buy 100k BDs and that money goes to the production companies, then it's very likely that they would fund more seasons, resulting in everyone involved in production, from executives to animators, benefiting. If we buy 100k CR subscriptions then that money goes to CR, and they'll use it to buy licenses for other shows. End of story.
>>

In all respects the only companies that really played any major creative role are Kadokawa and TV Tokyo and TV Tokyo didn't even know the script until days before recording.

What you seem to be missing here though is that CR will undoubtedly pay attention to what is popular on their service and make decisions on what to fund based on that.

You really aren't arguing with my point at all. Supporting it through crunchyroll is as direct as supporting it by any other means. By supporting it through Crunchyroll you are encouraging one of the investors of the series to think it's worthwhile to continue investing just like with any other company on the committee. I already stated that the degree of the effect would be less.

I don't disagree with that. However, the role of CrunchyRoll in funding anime like Kemono Friends is pretty much negligible compared that of to companies like Kadokawa, and it's not just because of the difference in prices. If you have $100 and you want to support the people who created KF by encouraging future production of similar shows, then you are much better off contributing that $100 to actual production companies rather than foreign licensing companies.

>pretty much negligible compared that of to companies like Kadokawa

I don't think its as negligible as you'd think in the case of Kemono Friends. Not that we have any real way of knowing the exact contribution of any company but if the order of listing on the production committee for the anime website is anything to go by they are the fifth largest investor out of 13 after Famima, TV Tokyo, Kadokawa and Victor Entertainment. That list order could mean nothing but it seems more reliable than the list order in the anime which seems based on nothing as Kadokawa are at the bottom of some of those lists.

That said their involvement in the actual production seems to have been nothing really. They don't get a "プロデューサー" credit which is where the guys that are in the interviews from Kadokawa and TV Tokyo are credited. Their guy Vincent Shortino has a 企画 planning credit along with all the others more important people at the respective companies though.

No, didn't get to take any. They're still in the same spot they were in when I took them to the Zoo and got quite a bit crumpled since. Used chopsticks since they were the closest to the original presentation, though was in a hurry and the only print shop I found couldn't size them properly so BOSSU ended up pretty damn big.

I listened to the engine sound during the part when Kaban is leaving the island, then I watched this video. The Japari Bus does sound more like a diesel engine than a gasoline engine. So that's why those large trucks sound like that. I didn't know why until now.

Are they going to release actual figures (not nendoroids)?

>make a figure for each friend

>>
>>158792789
I do think they actually might be because the rest of the ordering after that makes perfect sense. Not traditionally an anime company but their parent company is much larger than any other member of the committee. Taking a punt on making a quick buck with something cheap like Kemono Friends seems entirely plausible.
>>
>>158792953

>>
>>158792953
I suppose if there were toy manufacturers on the production committee there would probably be a lot more announced by now. The figures GSC (nendo & figma) are making are just licensed. I wonder how much they paid for the license for those and how much they pay back to the committee on sales volumes.

Actually, it would make a lot of sense for the Japari Bus to be electric but have a noise generator of some kind to sound like a combustion engine. For a safari vehicle, the noise is a good way to let both animals and other guests know you're nearby.

I was literally about to suggest it was full electric but with a speaker that plays engine sounds so as to not confuse the passengers or something. VAG already does this on their cars because they're so quiet inside. Running on any kind of fuel makes no sense. One, there is nowhere to refuel it when it runs out, and two, it would have soured badly by the time they found it.

We don't know that at all, we don't even know who has the streaming distribution rights for Japan. It might well be TV Tokyo. We don't know what arrangement CR has with regards to this specific business model either. You are specifically giving money for a show to a member of the production committee rather than paying a subscription service to a licensor and it may be the case that they are also paying a kickback to the production committee on those sales.

There is no difference between that purchase and a purchase of a physical media besides the magnitude of contribution in terms of amount and which specific member the funds are going to primarily

It should be shameful. It's paying for the permission to temporarily view vastly inferior DRM files, permission of which can be revoked anytime for any reason, considering it's not a real and actual product, unlike the purchase of BDs or nendos, which no one can arbitrarily remove.

https://stallman.org/netflix.html
>Netflix is a surveillance system: it demands customers identify themselves to pay, and thus records what each person watches. Don't stand for this!
>Netflix makes customers sign a restrictive contract (End User License Agreement) that denies them rights that they would normally have under copyright law if they bought a copy. If you bought a copy on a tape or disk, you would be free to give, lend or sell it. With Netflix, those actions are not only obstructed by DRM, but also explicitly forbidden.
Same rules apply to any kind of streaming.

I wasn't even considering this kind of angle to be honest my point was in terms of the production itself and paying towards the show there is no real difference at all besides the magnitude and company. It is all money to them. Not with regards to the product itself you are getting at the end of it. With regard to the "middlemen" point the only real middleman here is Valve or whoever, considering Crunchyroll are directly invested in the show, and that is no different to NicoNico who would take their cut too. The Nendo in this case would actually be paying a middleman rather than the "creators" of the show directly seeing as GSC have likely just paid a license fee to produce the figures like Crunchyroll usually do for streaming rights.

You got that wrong, Kemonoplasm just fills whatever is lacking in order to create a full cute human body, based on what was there to begin with. Transforming a normal animal most likely doesn't need much (all vital parts should be there so the only things left are the human body and the clothes, I don't think the size of the animal matters much either), but doing that for the remains of an extinct animal like a mammoth ends up being 85% kemonoplasm, and for a fictional animal is 100%. Kaban is an entire cute little thing born from a strand of hair, so she might be at least around Mammoth's level.
Not that this matters at fucking all, though. I still don't get why people seem to still feel so perturbed by the kemonoplasm research.

I'd figure how much they 'own' would be variable on the amount they invested, but I'm guessing they have minimum requirements for how much one needs to invest in order to be put in the list as a producer.

Then again, I have absolutely no idea how the anime industry works nor why CrunchyRoll decided to fund this despite Attack on Attack, Konosuba, LWA and other anime are much more popular in the west.

I see they're producers for only 18 anime, most of which I've never heard of.

That doesn't really mean anything if I can't put it in perspective.

IE,
Kadokawa invests 60%
TV Tokyo invests 30%
X producer invests 10%
Y producer invests 5%
CrunchyRoll invests 3%
everyone else invests <1%

"5th largest investor"
>>
>>158800691
unless they start doing some nice looking 3d i don't really see a reason to watch anime anymore
>>
>>158800650
It's simple: it was a cheap target. They wouldn't lose anything if the show hadn't picked up in here, and they probably didn't need to invest much money in order to get their name in there.
Imagine the amount of shekels they'd likely need to spend to get their names on something big.
>>
>>158800763
I'd be perfectly manzoku if every show from now on looked like this
>>
>>158800650
You are right that the ownership is proportional to the investment. The investment that they've made is seemingly quite significant in the scheme of things for a cheap show though.

With regards to those other shows. The reason they probably aren't directly involved with funding those, but only liscense, is various. But mostly I would assume it's about competition. Popular shows can probably raise more by having multiple streaming sites bid and compete for rights so prefer the liscense approach.

The word you're looking for is "lest". But anyways, CR are obviously not the ones putting actual money into the project. They do very little advertising and don't put money into physical merchandise, including BDs. Besides the cost of the license, CR has almost no monetary stake in the franchise.

If you really gave a shit about supporting the anime you like then you would choose the method that is clearly more closely tied to the industry. But hey, if those pennies make you feel better about not torrenting, more power to you.
>>

>>158800964
Theres literally no real difference besides amounts in this situation just giving money to one company funding the show over another.

>>158801014
It was cheap is exactly what I am agreeing with. That's the reason their investment seems to be proportionally one of the larger ones compared to usually just liscensing.
>>
>>158801233

>>
>>158801206
>They do very little advertising
I don't think they have the finance to pull that off. They did change their site's theme to Kemono Friends back when it was airing, so I give them props for that.
>>
>>158801206
I have the BDs, the CDs and the manga. The best way to support anime is to make sure the members of the production committee make their money back and justify the expense. Crunchyroll are one of those members.
>>
>>158801399
Good work then. The impact from buying those will still be 1000x times the impact you're making from buying a CR subscription.
>>
>>158801149
This just made me realize that the buns look like plush toys. The dotted line looks like stitching. I guess the Friends all get plenty of fiber at least.
>>
>>158801526
We weren't discussing CR subscription but the anime being for sale on steam. That's a different situation. Rather than some vague mysterious system where somehow you're money goes to someone involved in some way (honest it does!) you are actually paying for a specific show from a member of the production committee.
>>
Is the Steam video player actually good or should I just ignore it?
>>
>>158801945
>the anime being for sale on steam
Aren't CR the ones who put it on Steam?
>>
>>158802125
Yes. That isn't changing anything about the point I am making. You are paying crunchyroll a member of the animes production committee for a copy of the show. Rather than their usual subscription model where it's unclear who you are paying for what besides Crunchyroll as the liscense holder rather than investor.

>>
>>158802359
People don't like Crunchyroll because they make a big deal out of supporting the creators of anime when your subscription is actually going to contribute next to nothing compared to buying a BD or some other merchandise. It's kind of different in the case of Kemono Friends though where they actually part own the show rather than just liscense it but some people are too entrenched in blindly hating them to see the difference.
>>
>>158802428
They used to be a piracy site and then they went legit and now they complain like fuck about piracy vocally and that runs people the wrong way. Especially when supporting their service contributes very little to anime compared to just about any other method of spending.

Fansubs used to get by on the blowjobs and donations they got by subtitling shows that weren't licensed for release yet in their area.

Crunchy killed the fansubbing community by making deals to get new anime released immediately and subtitled on their site, closing that loophole.

Now all that's left is fans pissed about the subpar translations, fansubbers who lost their internet fame or those that are jealous that they never got to be that successful.

Based on a now-dead mobage, you see events unfold in a park consisting of animals given human form through the adventures of Kaban and Serval, the former of which doesn't know what kind of animal she is. Serval tests her to see what she can do, but Kaban just isn't good at anything it seems. Over the course of the show, you see both Kaban and Serval grow as individuals, fighting off creatures and helping other Friends learn how to do things they never would have done naturally. What seems to be a genuinely boring educational show is actually pretty fun to watch, since the cast don't try to act cutesy. Everyone is genuine in their personalities; there's no attempt at trying to sound cutesy when they can't pull it off, such as idol shit. Imagine, for a moment; you're a kid in a zoo, and you genuinely want to learn. How would you want to learn about the animals? A boring lecture, or experiencing their lives in a way that's easy for you to relate to? If the latter, Kemono Friends is just right for that childlike you.
