Depends on the terrain. In the city/jungle yes, FMJ works better but if you're out in the plains/desert/etc with large areas of open field then some kind of soft point would be much better.

It won't. Like I said, 8mm Mauser, 30-06, etc just leave neat holes through people unless it hits something hard like bone when it's an FMJ. That leaves very little cavitation in the body and very little surface area for blood to leave the body. Now take 8-12 9mm lead balls that flatten and expand inside soft tissue. You now have 8-12 9mm holes in your body that go to upwards of 15mm deeper inside. That's a fuckton more soft tissue damage and far more likely to cause massive blood loss. Plus it's unlikely the pellets exited if a direct torso shot so now you also have all that lead stuck in your body to cause more trauma from you moving around.

Modern military firearms and the FMJ rounds we use tend to become unstable once they hit flesh. The reason for this is the mass at the front of the bullet is much less than the mass at the base which causes a properly designed bullet to turn once it meets resistance.
