Idolshit aside, I never get why series like Gakuen Alice and Puchi Puri Yucie are included in these lists. GA's powers were presented as something more supernatural than magical, while Yucie was straight up high fantasy.

Sentai vs. Magical Girls

Group of girls suddenly get magical powers and try to fight villains, but the group of sentai guys who were in the city before them keep beating them to the punch and getting all the glory. The magical girls challenge the sentai guys to a competition to see which side is better.

Eventually, a supervillain shows up that's so powerful that neither team can defeat his villainous group on their own. So the sentai and the magical girls have to learn to co-exist and work together to take down a common enemy.

Action, comedy, romance, and both sides throwing so many savage insults at each other that Kelso from That 70's Show would be saying "BUUUURN!" like ten times an episode.

A strong focus on the characters who are usually neglected in magical girl shows, like parents, school friends, and of course the bystanders and victims of the villain. Maybe even the government and the military. An entirely secondhand magical girl show would be pretty crazy.

Finally, make them SF or mecha-themed magical girls because I fucking love that shit.
