I think the characters are really well written but the story is all over the place.

Last episode was kind of a jump with shy Ririko going out and singing in front of people.

The show is ok, but I don't like how they placed the characters drama: in one episode you get sad Sanae and they fix her problem, then in the next episode they get sad Maki and fix her problem, etc. Doesn't feel too natural to me.

The thing that really got me about this arc was how nonsensical and ham-fisted the issue with the town's attitude towards outsiders was. Like they had to integrate the supposed hostility into nearly everything that was happening, from Ririko's issues to Sandals to the grandma and of course the dragon story, and then by the end it turns out they were actually welcoming towards outsiders the whole time. Just flipping from -1 to 1 without any consequence or pay off made the whole thing feel like a waste of time.

And that's not even mentioning how ridiculous the issue is when the entire premise of the show is attracting tourists to the town.

I really enjoy the characters though and every scene with all 5 of them together is always enjoyable.

It's kinda bland and boring.
The rural town is just depressing and not really worth saving.
The main 5 have good designs, but like the other guy said, they get their two episodes and then transform in quipping backgrounds.
There is no sense of urgency nor an actual plot, at the same time it's not relaxing nor it has much humor. So what you get is a series made up of episodic drama.
I should have dropped it after a couple episodes.

Said that, I curious how PA is going to develop the anime now that the all the main 5 got their episodes.
