This is basically the case of the manga before the Iruru arc. Arguably, there are quite a few good bits, but ultimately they are sort of watered down by the majority bland jokes and low-impact characters. During the season's early run, everyone mentioned how there wasn't enough content for a season 2, but as it stands now, a season 2 would probably be much better than the adapted season by virtue of the source content's willingness to reach a little more into the dragons' "other world" while also contributing a little more focus to the current characters as well as developing a full, concentrated arc with one newcomer.

I'm not a huge fan of her design or what she became after her arc, but the four-five chapters in which she was more or less the primary focus were actually some of the best paced and character-driven bits the manga has to offer.
