If you watch only the anime then I can understand why he doesn't appear all that driven to search for his sister. He got inspired by Julis and wants to help her in part to honor his sister who took care of him and protected him with her strength, so he will do the same. That sorta became the more important reason that drove him to join up with her.

Novels sold like 200k last year. Last volume did okay. And there is a yuri spin-off that just had second volume recently. We'll probably see more of Asterisk in the future. LN with 5k sales are getting adaptations.
