I started it recently and so far it's kinda meh.
I'm fine with MC being scumbug but I can't care less about that annoying chibi kids and childhood friend vs. Lum rivalry. Jokes are barely funny too. Will it get better or is it going to stay on the same level as the first episodes.

It gets better as the series goes on. Shinobu stops being a rival and Lum's fan club is never super prominent. The Ataru vs Mendou eps were always my favorite.
