/a/ what do you think about anime based on books other than LN (e.g. hyouka)?
Which books would you like to see adapted into anime?
>>158173016
Melodramatic garbage with a lot of NTR drama.
I rather just ask them to hire Okada if they want that since Okada at least make it a watchable trainwreck.
Books about compensated dating by JK girls.
>>158173016
Same as the rest : people only care about waifus and shipping faggotry.
>>158173016
Everything Kyoani adapts is book, not LNshit. They have high standards after all.
Shin Sekai Yori was a novel, right? They should make a Pride and Prejudice animu. Darcy is best boy.
>>158173016
I haven't noticed any massive difference between LN and regular novel adaptations.
inb4 someone implies this means I think No Longer Human is the same as some random LN trash like Infinite Stratos
>>158173127
KnK, Amagiand Haruhiare LN based
But I still can´t believe something as bad as Phantom World was not LN but actual novel.
>>158173343
No Longer Human anime would be quite interesting
I would like to get more. Shin Sekai Yori and The Count of Monte Cristo were both great.
>>158173674
>would be
It already exists.
>>158173343
>>158173438
There are no differences, it's just a marketing term
Novels are novels, there are bad novels and good novels, being a light novel only means the publisher wants to market the book with that name
>>158173290
Was also going to say P&P. Would be a comfy SOL with great drama
>>158173016
Any chance of Hyouka getting released in English? Hibike Euphonium is getting released this month but I'm wondering about Hyouka.
Anyway I'm currently reading Perdido Street Station could see it making an interesting SHAFT anime with how the city is described.
>>158173016
Dungeon Defense
>Isekai
>RPG Mechanics
>Hero and Demon Lord
>Slaves
>Rape
>Harem
You know it's 10/10
How was WMT's Les Miserables, was it at least better than the Wolverine version?
Also what the hell happened to WMT anyway? Would've loved to have seen them tackle Lord of the Rings or some Arthurian mythos.
>>158173758
Well there is.
LNs have pictures in them, and tend to be shorter in length per book. Compared to novels.
There's also the whole thing of the latter being targeted towards young adults, and it being a vessel for more geek-based stories, but aside that, yeah, it's not an automatic Novel=good, LN=bad. But there's definitely a bias there, you can't deny that.
This would make a great anime. We could use more fantasy series that aren't based on JRPG.
>>158173901
The japs get the best bookcovers. Season three of a Dragonlance anime would be awesome.
>>158173859
What about LN=Novel with harem and stupid cliffhangers on end of every volume?
>>158173963
But the last LN I read wasn't a harem nor did It end with cliffhangers
>>158173016
For some reason I always thought Discworld series could make interesting anime but I don´t know who would have to make it so it wouldn´t suck.
But japs have translated only 5 books or so and didn´t even make any effort in localizing names. They just wrote them in katakana...
>>158173901Have you seen the movie yet?
>>158173816
Probably none, but it is translated on Baka-Tsuki
>>158173990
Enlighten me
>>158173963
You're talking content, I'm talking format.
>>158173016
I want Kite Runner to be adapted as anime just to watch at shota mcgetting buttrapedin animated form
Anyone else surprised the American comic industry isn't outsourcing to Japan for creative purposes with certain titles? There's a shit load of comics that wouldn't work adapted overall as a big, blockbuster live action American film but I could see something like East of West working as a Trigger anime.
I'd also love to see Dune or Blood Meridian maybe tackled by Oshii with Dune being a creative project by: Anno, Lynch, Ikuhara, Takahata and Jodorowsky on board.
>>158174350
>Enlighten me
I wouldn't recommend reading this, but it isn't a harem nor cliffhanger having series yet, though I've only read the first 3 volumes so far.
>>158174635
>American comic industry isn't outsourcing to Japan for creative purposes with certain titles?
Did you miss the twenty super hero anime in the last ten years?
>>158174660
I don't watch Capeshit but I imagine this could also help the dying comic industry market in the US if it is a successful method but I get the feeling it would be far too risky for investors to do.
>>158174796
I'm sure it is far less risky than the big budget movies they already make, and have a far smaller positive impact as well.
>>158174067
No, I've heard enough about it to avoid it. Watching it would probably just piss me off.
An anime adaptation would really suit this series. While watching Slayers I kept thinking of the similarities.
>reading WoT
>every girl is a tsundere
>Rand and Perrin are clueless harem protags while Mat is the goofball best friend
Fucking made for anime.
>captcha: avenida rise
almost aveinda rise, it is time
>>158175052
I am still in the 2nd book, is the romcom gonna start anytime?
I read a shitload of fantasy as a kid, but after watching anime for 15 years I kinda miss the slight sexual tension and jokes in books.
>>158173016
>/a/ what do you think about anime based on books other than LN
They are fine, although I would be wary of some western stories getting anime adaptations without an art style that matches their aesthetics.
>>158174796
they dont even sell because japanese cartoon fans arent fond of capeshit even in japan. Just look what happened to Heroman or other Madhouse/ Marvel Anime movies
>>158175247
I have the exactly same problem and because of that I can´t really bring myself to read fantasy books anymore.
It´s really pissing me off
>>158173016
>Which books would you like to see adapted into anime?
Ten Little Niggers.
Realistically speaking, Phenomeno.
>>158175247
I'm only on book 5, harem starts I think roughly in book 3 (mostly in the background).
>award winning novel
>10/10 intelligent and rational heroine
>competent and non-beta MC
>great sci-fi
And it's by the writer of Kado, so he could adapt it himself.
Kuchuu Buranko was 10/10
>>158173839
>Also what the hell happened to WMT anyway? Would've loved to have seen them tackle Lord of the Rings or some Arthurian mythos.
WMT is not for adapting those kind of works, anon. It's a historical drama anime with children as the main lead.
I have some books in mind that would be wonderful to get a WMT adaptation, ranging from Dickens to some obscure English, French, and Russian shit.Honestly, I just want to have more WMT lolis because they're so different than your usual animu lolis.
>>158173016
I want them to adapt the rest of the Twelve Kingdom books.
>>158173290
>Pride and Prejudice animu
Manga already exists.
>>158175052
>reading WoT
Stop.
>>158178792
No ;^)I have already had to take several long breaks when it gets boring
>>158173343
>I haven't noticed any massive difference between LN and regular novel adaptations.
I have. The dialogue is generally more natural for novel adaptations, the characters are more down to earth, and the story pacing is slower (this isn't a bad thing) as well.
>>158179164
This. And less animu cliches as well.
>>158173859
>LNs have pictures in them, and tend to be shorter in length per book. Compared to novels.
But there are LNs that don't/have very little, and they can still be longer than your average novel. Zaregoto and Monogatari novels can be hundreds of pages long, but they're simply called LNs for marketing.
>>158178620
This
>>158178916
>when it gets boring
You are going to have a looooooooot of breaks during books 6-9
>>158179307Is any of it as bad as Rand's trek through the Aiel past? That was probably the worst so far, that and most of book 1.
>>158179541yes
>>158179164
Regular novels also tend to use longer and more complex sentences and kanji compounds.
Isn't Logh based on novels?
>>158173859
>there are still people who think the "light" in "light novel" refers to light reading
>>158180778
Yes it is and I hate we didn't get the covers that are actually good, still glad I own 1-3 though, looking forward to getting the rest. Do you think they'll handle the gaidens?
>>158178592
I'm actually re-reading Great Expectations out of nostalgia at the moment and I'm imagining the entire thing as a WMT anime, could easily see them doing some beautiful things with the backgrounds like the descriptions marshes or the massive hulking ships in the shipyards.
>>158173016
Why no Hyouka S2? They could do a 12 episodes season with volume 5 and 6.
Although looking at Chuni Ren, it might be better that they didn't.
