Surpass Togashi? In what? Being a hack? He has already done that.

Naruto had so many chances to flesh out their characters but in the end, only a handful of them were any good or interesting (Zabuza/Haku, Jiraiya, Kakashi, Nagato). Sakura is probably one of the worst written main characters ever.

Just because certain characters are on the good side, doesn't mean everyone is supposed to like them. In real life, regardless of if someone is fighting for good or evil, you're not going to like all of them.

Genius writers like Togashi and Kishimoto understand this, unlike idiots like Hiro Mashima, who just makes all the good guys part of a nakama hivemind.

Yeah right. You cannot possibly have a character that's unlikable but still well written, like, you know, an antagonis ? Sakura is definitely a shit character on purpose and not because Kishimoto can't into character writing and character developement.
She's anecdotal and badly written, she's not a good character at all and it wasn't a genius move from Kishimoto, just like a ton of other characters in his manga.

She's human, just like all the other characters in this manga. Some human beings can really be shallow bitches.

When you look at early on in the story, she has little empathy for others, not understanding how Naruto feels at all. Her character arc was supposed to be her facing the consequence of being so shallow and understand people better.

But Naruto had already matured long before her by that point.

I think Kishi could be pretty great was when he put soul in hisa work. First chapters of Naruto were nice. His one-shot about mafia was good too.

His new sci-fi work probably will be good for first chapters. Then it'll either will be canceled because won't be popular, or turn into shit like Naruto after few tomes.
