Is it actually good?

Whats so incredible about it though? For a senki series it feels incredibly weak or rather mediocre I guess with its battles/strategy/politics etc. Not to mention what was up with the masked guy disappearing in a portal all of a sudden at the end there? Though I guess maybe in the LNs they explain the magic aspect of the series to some extent?

Stuff like Kingdom and Youjo Senki do the senki thing better imo. Even LNs like Altina and
pure fantasy ones like Madan(LNwise) have much better battles and execution.
