It's up and down for me.

I like Shierke, but I think some of the OP magic she brings to the group waters down the stakes that fighting used to have. But I also think that that element was sort of unavoidable if Guts was ever going to stand a chance in Griffith's new world.

Isidro and Puck on the comic relief side of things probably bother me more than anything else.

I like Isidro and Puck, but I wish Miura focused a bit more on Isidro's youthfulness rather than just debasing him to a mischievous monkey / clown all the time. My favorite arc with him is still when the trolls attack the town, because the competitiveness he showed towards Schierke and the old man gave him character. All of Guts's new group is obviously supposed to represent fragments of himself, or supplements of himself, and Isidro's role in that is clearly meant to be the fire of youth.

Schierke is still great. At first, it did also kind of bother me that she competed with Guts as being the most competent in the group, but it didn't take long for Miura to demonstrate that that's not the case. She is still a child. I really like how she supports him with the armor, though, and I still like how Guts appears to the group, a badass enigma that they are all floored by.

That's fair. It's less the idea of Isidro as a character that bothers me, and more that he's rarely treated as having any serious stake in the conflict or real connection to the group outside of him admiring Guts and teasing Shierke.

Flesh out his chemistry with some of the other characters and put him through some real trials and I think he could have an interesting coming of age story.
