Even with the rights debacle and hiatus, this manga is still pretty popular with the Elevens if I recall. So maybe it'd be possible to get that promised adaption sometime down the line. The art style is super endearing too and would be gorgeous animated.

I could see the mangaka ending with Oono and Haruo getting together now that Oono won at 8 volumes if he wanted. He could also keep going with more arcade history and competition as well though.
I'd love to see Oono and Haruo go at it in more games.

It was resolved which is why the manga continued. They had permission from Sega, Capcom and Namco but not SNK, so an anime is still possible I'd have thought. Maybe one of those companies could bankroll it.
