But what does it mean?!?!
>>157925458
Just meant art styles more than context.

Why do you have to cherrypick KyoAni though? They look fine. Have you actually ever watched old anime? None of them use proper shading on the characters.

>wears shoes
I don't think so

Are you high?

Post examples pls

You might not believe me but I'm not exactly going to take screencaps of things I don't find aesthetically pleasing, thus I haven't taken any of movies that had no shading. But in my experience it's a lot of sameface, shitty sound quality and just poorly directed movies. gits is just an exception to that rule. How many old anime have you actually seen?
>>157925759
less than modern ones definitely
>>157925893
You might as-well stop. Japan really can't seem to do animated movies right. Sure it might look more fluid than random anime tv shows but that's only because of budget. It doesn't mean the movie will actually be good. I wish I was joking. But I really wouldn't be able to tell you a good Japanese animated movie that is a standalone project. It's either a recap movie or a sequel.
>>157925987
my definition of modern when answering was before 2000
when exactly would you say movie animation quality started going downhill, and at the same time tv anime quality went up?
WTF happened?
>>157926035
Ah no. You're totally right when it comes to animation quality. It's all downhill. Late 90s/Early zeroes are best for both TV and films. It's just because of budget differences. It doesn't make the movie actually good

at least they finally learned how to shade
