Wholeheartedly agreed. 90% of adaptions mediocre at best.
I despise all of the plebs that highly rate these dull, uninspired adaptations with nothing noteworthy about them other than they ripped off the narrative of a good source. Not only that they almost always remove narrative elements from the sources and replace them with nothing making them objectively worse.

The GitS 1995 film and SAC series are both unique takes on the manga that also work greatly as their own thing.
I enjoyed the Eva manga more than I did the anime.
