Where are the fucking threads? I already had high hopes S2 and its definitely shaping up to AOTS but of course /a/ does not want to discuss it.
Ive rarely seen threads the past few weeks.
The ED is growing on me
Also this season is really driving home how powerless tanuki are and how arrogant humans and tengu are.
Comfiest anime and my personal AOTS.
S2 is just too good. I don't recall S1 to be that good back in a days.
Gyokuran makes any episode better.
Not just yet.
So, in this scene we now can figure that she turned Yasaburo back into a tanuki by having him see her. So how come this doesn't apply for when she's transformed into objects like a ladder or whatever? Does her form have to have a face for it to make Yasaburo revert back to a tanuki?
Fuck, you're right. I should go to sleep. I guess random objects don't work then. It has to be an appearance that he can recognize as being Kaisei's and not just some disguise.
Not as cute as Kaisei or her boots.
Shitty title, no wonder there's below 50 posts here.
>Yasaburou finally meets Kaisei
>He's completely awestruck
Fuck man, I've been on board for this since the first season but goddamn, this was some fucking catharsis.
>nine dollars for rice, eggs, and coffee
what the fuck japan
He was also pretty indifferent when he said his heart was filled with sorrow when he saw Benten's expression and knew Nidaime would beat her so I guess that's just how the narrations are.
Them not being able to meet for marriage was a theory, I think.
The reason Kaisei didn't show herself to him was because she's his weakness.
I really hope this ending on a nice not with Gyokuran and Kaisei completely becoming part of their family.
Seeing Gyokuran with them already fills me with happiness.
The thing I love most about the family is how they all love the fuck out of their mom. She's so best.
So, is the thought of marriage being confining, like a prison, what causes Yasubro to become a Tanuki?
Maybe not so deep. Tanuki just seems to have one thing that can undo their transformation without any deep reason.
>they all love the fuck out of their mom
That's really adorable. One thunder storm and everyone came rushing home to check on her.
Then what sort of trauma could a tofu vender's trumpet caused to Gyokuran.
Not really, consider that both of them said they didn't want to reinstate the marriage proposal before she showed herself before him.
Not to mention, she stopped showing herself before him since they were kids, and back then it's unlikely Yasaburo even had any idea what marriage is like.
Kaisei's real form is his weakness, just because.
Kaisei really does think a lot about Yasaburou not to show herself before him all this time, so that he wouldn't lose his transformation. She's an amazing girl.
I really hope to see Yasaburou start maturing a bit and stop doing any other stupid crap just because, especially his silly fixation on Benten.
He didn't forget. He just thought the cause of his weakness was something else - mushrooms.
He didn't realise it was actually Kaisei, but she did realise that much.
It's the "the guy can be rather insensitive to the girl who is rather devoted to him" trope, and going by what has been shown to us about Yasaburou, it fits his character almost perfectly, considering how immature he can be.
he's immature and he always thinks of himself as a carefree fool, but he's always been extremely loyal to his friends and family--proven in this episode, where even though he talks a big game about keeping his tail warm as soon as he hears thunder he bolts out the door without a word to gyokuran
Was I supposed to feel bad for Shitty Uncle Tanuki?
I mean I get that the Tanuki have different values and don't really think like humans do all that much, but I don't know how they expected the viewers to feel any pity for Soun at all.
I only wish he had died, revealing his form to everyone in the process.
Yeah, I never said he wasn't loyal though, just that he's immature, by doing reckless things like spending time with the members of the Friday Club, or his foolish crush on Benten.
>Was I supposed to feel bad for Shitty Uncle Tanuki?
You're just supposed to know that the life he chose to lead turned him into the person he became.
Basically, he died a
>able to keep secret magical society a secret for thousands of years
>Benten has magic for 10 years and manages to fuck everything up
Benten was a mistake
To be fair, that guy was acting like a holier-than-thou liberal.
Also, the leader seemed more interested on messing with him (shooting to the things on top of his head, rather than actually killing him).
Still, they eat your people. So, it's rather odd and silly to hang around them. It also makes the people close to him worried - everything Kaisei mentioned were things that clearly made her upset/worried, at least.
That's what happens when you leave an old man thinking with his dick to make decisions.
Why would she? She was forced into this type of life. Why would she bother keeping up with tradition.
She may as well use her powers to whatever ends she feels up to. She owes them nothing.
>Why would she bother keeping up with tradition.
I wasn't saying she should (In fact I think otherwise). I was just making a comparison of character.
And Benten definitely has a massive chip on her shoulder.
>And Benten definitely has a massive chip on her shoulder.
She does, she also seems rather lonely, and somewhat self-hating too.
She probably sees Nidaime as someone similar to her.
No one especially hides it. The tanuki fly all their ships during a festival and Yaijiro in his train form went wild. Its probably some type of thing where humans are vaguely aware, but can't actually conceive it
>He was absolutely in the right
For them, not really. If anything, he was just pestering them.
If I remember correctly, other than Benten and Jyurojin none of the members of the club know of magic or that the Tanuki have human-like intelligence, so they eat them like any other animal, and thus see no issue with the tradition.
i just cant stand ben ten. i love evryone else but her. fucking ayylmao's
Atom the Beginning has her as a main character if you want her twice in the same season
Occultic Nine as well. You can watch her be a giant tittied descendant of Nikola Tesla
Not anime, but #FE has her voicing a character so you can have her for 40 hours or so if you want
The only thing this anime makes me sad about is the fact that Mamiko Noto is only used to voice older women these days, and barely even gets any roles, even though he voice sounds as great as it used to some 10 years ago.
He voice is simply soothing.
They're tanuki, not humans, so the first cousin marriage thing isn't an issue as far as deformities in kids. Plus, it still happens in much of the world especially India and the MidEast.
The first one was in 2007 and the second one came out in 2015, even if it's quicker we'll still have to wait a longer while. Seems like the third one will be the last volume too.
I know there are some real novelfags on this board so can any of you answer this
Does the cast find out the Soun was a piece of shit who faked his death and is assuming the form of his older son, or will he just be able to chill as the acting head of the family again like nothing happened?
It's considered part of the Kyoto culture and promotion initiative. Ironic in a sense that PA Works isn't a Kyoto studio but is part of the project while KyoAni, an actual studio based in Kyoto, isn't.
>tied him up
>shoot apples off his head with the intent of threatening him into changing his mind
>also had a history of roping people up or even throwing them into hell simply because they annoyed him
Does anyone else really dislike the Professor?
I rewatched the first season a few days ago and I thought he's such an annoying character, his appearances in this season as well have been annoying.
I can't stand him when he's going "BENTEN WHERE'S BENTEN OH THERE YOU ARE BENTEN" but when he's with anyone else in the cast/she's not the topic of conversation he's fine. Like that scene where he talked about setting up Tousen and Souichirou was cute. And the scene in S1 where he says goodbye to Souichirou still brings a tear to my eye.
Better just watch.
He didn't know anything about Benten to be afraid of her at that point, he just happened to lose his transformation when he saw her. He wasn't scared it was just his bad luck that she happened to be his weakness.
Afterwards, he then had a reason to avoid or be afraid to be exposed as a tanuki when near her.
Yasaburo will end up with Kaisei but only after he grows his great tanuki testicles after avenging Benten when she is murdered in the third book
The thread yesterday went to the bump limit, you fucking retard. Just because you were on Reddit and MAL yesterday and didn't see the thread doesn't mean we didn't talk about it.
If only you paid a little bit more attention you would notice that this thread was also made yesterday, in fact it was made way before the other one reached bump limit, so if you're going to call OP a faggot at least do so for not using the catalog or putting the proper title in the subject.
Seeing Kiyomizu-dera and Teramachi street sure brought back some fond memories.
>Kaisei gets caught
>Benten forces Yasaburo to choose whether he wants to serve her forever and let Kaisei die or save Kaisei at the cost of never getting to meet Benten again
you know exactly what he would do.
First of all he'd save Kaisei regardless of how he feels about them cause he's not an evil fucker like Benten. Then he'd marry Kaisei cause his fool's blood is not so bad as to not realize who the cutest is.
Ah fuck, I remembered. All of this stemmed from that. From the sibling rivalry, to the marrying into the Ebisugawas, to the work bullying towards Yajirou, to the attempts at Nise-emon sabotage against Yaichirou.
At least it's over.
Electric (Denki) Brandy?
It's a pun.
Really? Japanese wiki listed it as 2015/2/26.
Why did they send Yajirou to work with the Ebisugawas anyway, the Ebisugawa were obviously hostile to Souichiro's family.
>not sold on GSC site
>sold as capsule toys only
I guess they don't want my money.
>mfw it takes another 8 years for the third novel to come out and anime never
The point is that he doesn't realize his own feelings. Yajiro spells it out, and Kaisei showing herself to him in the last scene makes it abundantly clear.
He also very frequently brings up how annoyed he is that she won't show herself, that seems to be the only thing he really "dislikes" about her, and if he was truly indifferent he wouldn't care if she avoided him anyway.
>studio likes doing it
>funded by the city
It's too good.
It's always nice when a series you
enjoy gets this kind of treatment.
Where sales aren't important for success, but certainly don't hurt.
The only downside to Kaisei/Yasaburo development is that Yajiro has to leave for it to happen.
I read somewhere that he's liked Kaisei for a while, and she obviously thinks well of him from her parting gift in this episode. Man, what a good frog bro. Helping out Yasaburo all the time.
This will become a crazy tanuki.
It was directly said in the first season that he really liked her for a while and felt terrible about it to the point where he was planning on leaving to avoid causing problems. His dad met with him the night he died to prevent him from going.
Calm, collected, good looking
Down on his luck but doesn't mope about it
Stuck in a literal hole of depression but slowly makes his way out of it even if it takes time
I think a lot of people can empathize with him
>mfw realizing their names aren't actually Ginkaku and Kinkaku
Haha yeah I totally knew that the whole time and didn't miss it in the show entirely and just find out their real names now by looking at a character list on MAL.
They're also not actually identical but just choose to look so.
They are twins and those are their real names
In Japan the one born first in a twin relationship is often referred to as Onii-san even though they're twins and the same age
Dear lord I want to go. What's the best period to get those wonderful colors? November, I guess? Wouldn't it be too cold already, with the sun setting at like 16PM?
>doting mother prepares her eldest son for his wedding night
Someone explain to a brainlet what he meant by this.
There's actually a lot of significance in that since the "ji" in Soujirou means "two" as in "second son", e.g. "Yajirou". Not being the firstborn means essentially that he'll never be the had of the family so he had to cast away his name to be the head of his own family.
I went last November and the non-superfamous temples(including Shimogamo and Tadasu no Mori) weren't that bad. Weather was kind of inconstant.
October in Kyoto is also lovely and warm.
I dunno what you're talking about, lots of people are enjoying S2. I also really really like the OP, I wasn't sure if it was gonna be able to be better than OMOSHIROOO but it fucking did.
Yasaburou and Kaisei are also cute as fuck. I hope we get more shenanigans between them now.
Do you mean this bit in episode 2? Because yeah, that was pretty good.
I just hope we get more than 5 seconds max per episode of Kaisei from now on. The tsuntsun banter is too good.
Will the 3rd novel be the final one?
I don't see this story spanning many volumes.
Hell, by now, in the second season, most relevant character are already well fleshed-out and their stories properly developed.
Soun was a good father.
> So how come this doesn't apply for when she's transformed into objects like a ladder or whatever
I used this to argue that this theory couldn't be right a week or two ago, and now I feel retarded.
>I really hope to see Yasaburou start maturing a bit and stop doing any other stupid crap just because
>stop doing any other stupid crap just because
I really don't. I feel like that'd trample all over both his character and major themes of the series.
>He didn't know anything about Benten to be afraid of her at that point
She wasn't even frightening yet, was she? I assume Akadama would have introduced her fairly early into her training; when she met Yasaburo she was pretty innocent and hadn't even been able to fly before.
